EU wants Russia to "immediately release protesters"
The EU has called on Russian to "immediately release peaceful demonstrators" among the hundreds arrested on Sunday during anti-corruption protests.

"Police operations prevented the exercise of basic freedoms of expression, association and peaceful assembly - which are fundamental rights enshrined in the Russian constitution," an EU spokesperson said in a statement.
It also called on Russia "to abide fully by its international commitments to uphold those rights and to release without delay the peaceful demonstrators that have been detained."
The Russian police arrested at least 130 persons, among them opposition leader Alexey Navalny who took part in a protest in Moscow, the OVD-Info NGO has announced.
Navalny called for demonstrations to take place across Russia, despite the fact most of these gatherings had been banned.
The opposition politician and blogger did this after a recent report that claims Russian PM Dmitry Medveded is "hoarding expensive villas, yachts, and vineyards worth several billion, that he is managing via charity organizations controlled by his associates."
