According to Slovenian agency STA, quoting diplomatic sources in Brussels, the decision to send the mission is expected to be confirmed some time before the EU Council of Ministers meeting scheduled for Monday.

It had earlier been stated that the decision to send the mission to Kosovo would be confirmed on Monday, which remains a possibility, though sources in Brussels say that it is more likely to happen this week, depending on the situation in Kosovo and Serbia, STA states.

Meanwhile, Priština is also expected to declare unilateral independence on Sunday, February 17, with the decision to come into force in March. STA states that Brussels will respond to the Kosovo Albanian's move on Monday at the Council of Ministers session.

The Council is expected to adopt a political statement on recognizing independence on Monday, while actual recognition would remain in the hands of each individual country, STA states, adding that Cyprus and Romania are expected to withhold recognition.
