Serbia would be much more useful to the EU than Kosovo would.
    (Peter Sudyka, 1 March 2008 12:17)
  2. Just out of curiosity..who would want Serbia in EU? Sure Serbia might serve as a geopolitical strategic point (just like every country) but Serbs are not ready to live in a democratic society.
    (KS, 29 February 2008 19:36)

Serbia wants the same thing out of the EU that other people in the region want - better access to the rest of Europe, elimination of visa restrictions, and greater integration into the international market. I really don't know what the point of your question was. If it was out of ignorance I suggest you address that pathological intolerance you have for an entire ethnic race.

And Serbia is more of a democracy than you will ever be. It has full control over its government, something the Kosovo colony does not. It has numerous competing political parties will full access to electoral power. It has an active civil society on the ground in Belgrade. It has no political movements seeking the overthrow of the state and an imposition of an authoritarian dictatorship.

Again, I really can't see the merit of your comment other than to show the limits of your understanding of the region.

  3. "...Serbs already live in a democratic society. We have a democratically elected government, with laws, a judicial system, free press, and a growing economy, all that good stuff. Are you implying Kosovo is better? 50% unemployment with a third of the population living below the poverty line?
    (Peter V, 29 February 2008 22:11) "

Your mouth is full of democracy, yes indeed, but when it comes to reality it shows something different.
Did not in your country almost won a nationalist who has the mouth full of WAR? You have the chance to fight for Kosova, although the chances to win are very slim, however , you are forgeting that EU and USA made their choice , they chose Kosova versus Serbia, no it is up to you, you can have the possibility to live under real democracy , or you can continue to live under your democracy , that of destruction of buildings, and shoplifting.
One thing I am not understanding, do you really think that you are the smartes volk in the world, smarter than all those world powers who recognised Kosova?

  4. "If such poll was carried out in Kosovo/a, I am sure the results wouldn't much different from these below:

100% believe their country should be in the EU
100% would trade ties with Serbia for joining the EU
100% would like to see Kosova/o in NATO
0% would like to have ties with Russia

Assumption is that this would be the view of all Kosovans minus the K-Serbs who most definitely would not want to participate.

    Cheers ...

Yes, and I would also add that 100% won't want Kosovo in UN because they won't be able get in anyway ......

  5. Serbs are not ready to live in a democratic society.
    (KS, 29 February 2008 19:36)

Serbia has elected its on own leader....here in the UK, our leader wasn't chosen - he picked himself...is this how democracy works? In the US - Bush only came to power through fraud...is this democracy....?

what is the point of having the cake if you cant eat it?

So the EU dosent want a easily accessable market of 8 million people, who use cell phones, internet, and have a skilled labour market whose wage is less then in Western Europe?

Serbs already live in a democratic society. We have a democratically elected government, with laws, a judicial system, free press, and a growing economy, all that good stuff. Are you implying Kosovo is better? 50% unemployment with a third of the population living below the poverty line?

2, the method used to conduct the poll
    3 who participated,
    4 how many participated
    5 margins of error
    etc...

  11. Good opinion polls for better understanding of the reality ! I hope you may be interested in a Rissian viewing of the results :

    1. There's no contradiction between the European integrity of Serbia and closer cooperation with Russia. We are strongly motivated to see the Serbs inside the EU and if the Serbs are aware of it they will give more percents for the both mentioned vectors of their politics.

    2. But living in the cruel world we have to be realistic i.e. we have to consider that for the time being Serbian route to the EU is almost blocked. Whatever the EU employees say they offer you a raped nation membership which Serbs can merely accept.

    3. The less you depend on the EU the bigger chances for dignity membership you have. So forcing economic relations with Russia you can both become stronger and move the EU dump members feel nervous and make you an acceptable offer.

    4. 48% vs 37% in Kosovo partitition question is really a big problem. Frankly I have no idea how can you co-exist with the Albanians after all what has happened ! The Yankees and the Europeans has damned themselves by supporting a region where the only legal branch of the economy is agriculture ... The years coming they are going to wrip the harvest ...

    5. I believe that right now even together we cannot return the status quo of K & M . So the best thing to do now is to freeze the recognition process and start a wide range political ,diplomatic and economic steps to split and demoralize the opponents. The situation in the world may change if there's a collapce of the US financial system while they almost have no real economy. In a few years after Merkel,Sarkozy and other puppets say good bye the situation may change inside the EU too. Then there will be new chances for us to bargain !

    Best wishes !

  12. I just hope this doesn't lead into another trap to sign something with the EU so that their mission to Kosovo can be justified in some way.
