It had earlier been stated that the decision to send the mission to Kosovo would be confirmed on Monday, which remains a possibility, though sources in Brussels say that it is more likely to happen this week, depending on the situation in Kosovo and Serbia, STA states.
Meanwhile, Priština is also expected to declare unilateral independence on Sunday, February 17, with the decision to come into force in March. STA states that Brussels will respond to the Kosovo Albanian's move on Monday at the Council of Ministers session.
The Council is expected to adopt a political statement on recognizing independence on Monday, while actual recognition would remain in the hands of each individual country, STA states, adding that Cyprus and Romania are expected to withhold recognition.
This is simply amazing. Th EU is saying to Serbia, "Come join our Democratic Union, oh, but by the way, we are going to breakup your country by force, before you can join us". I am floored at how weak and obedient this weak Union is, when Washington barks out an order. I guess if you have all the large guns, you can call the shots. This is a blackeye for world democracy, and will definitly come back to haunt this gutless Union.

Obviously a united EU position on a Kosovo UDI is not possible. We know exactly where around 6 or 7 members stand so let's see if the other 20 will stand up for international law. I would not be too confident in my own (Irish) government as they are the worst government we've had in decades and are very pro-free market and rarely dissent from the big boys. Basically, they've been bought off. We'll see.
By the way, the Lisbon Treaty debate is beginning to gather pace here. You might be interested to know that the reason Ireland is the only country having a referendum is because in 1987 a brave individual called Raymond Crotty took our government to the Supreme Court to ensure that any major changes to our sovereignty would have to be decided by the Irish people in a referendum. Mr Crotty won the case.
Various anti-Lisbon websites are under construction. Quite a good one that has appeared is:

Bear in mind that these sites are directed at Irish citizens so there will be names and references that you will not be familiar with. ("Taoiseach" is the Irish term for Prime Minister)
