It is calm in the north of Kosovo and Metohija this morning, after last night's conflict between KFOR members and Serbs in Zvečan.

In the municipalities of Zubin Potok, Zvečan and Leposavić, there were no incidents during the night, and the number of KFOR members was increased.

Serb protests have been scheduled for today in Zvečan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic.

Their demand is the withdrawal of special forces from the north of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as that the newly elected Albanian mayors do not come to work in Serbian municipalities in elections in which Serbs did not participate.

Kosovo Police announced that in accordance with their official duties and in cooperation with KFOR, they continue to take care of public order and peace in the north of Kosovo and call on all citizens to remain calm and not fall for provocations.

The police stated on Facebook that they will continue to coordinate with KFOR in their activities today.

"Yesterday, individuals/criminal groups, with pronounced violence, led to the escalation and degradation of the security situation in the north of Kosovo, thus endangering the lives of people, including the lives of police officers. Protests in three municipalities in the north, Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan, continue today at the municipal buildings, the situation is currently considered fragile, but peaceful," said the Police.

They add that the Kosovo Police, in accordance with its official duties, continues with its obligations in ensuring the security and smooth development of protests, as well as cooperation and coordination of activities with KFOR and relevant institutions.

"At the same time, police units are undertaking all investigative actions related to yesterday's events. The Kosovo Police calls on citizens to remain calm and not fall for calls for violent protests and provocations of any nature," the Police said.
