Beside the war crimes committed by the ethnic Albanian KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army"), Kosovo courts will also deal with the alleged crimes committed by Serbs against Albanians.

Radio Free Europe is reporting that the problem is that many of the Serbs suspects are believed to live in central Serbia, which makes the work of the (war crimes) department difficult.

Lobbying has been ongoing since 2012 to make the Kosovo war crimes department operative, RFE said.

According to a strategy to tackle war crimes, this department will be strengthen to have five prosecutors and other staff.

Kosovo Prosecutor Syle Hoxha said they have received a considerable number of cases from EULEX, which will require additional staff.
