Freedom House 2007 Serbia report

On January 16, Freedom House released the findings from the latest edition of Freedom in the World, the annual survey of global political rights and civil liberties.

According to the survey’s findings, the year 2007 was marked by a notable setback for global freedom.

In the report, Serbia was rated as "free", while its disputed southern province of Kosovo has been separately rated as "not free".

UN secretary-general report on Kosovo

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at the start of the year submitted his regular report on Kosovo, covering activities of UNMIK and developments in the province from September 1 to December 15, 2007.

Troika Kosovo report to UN secretary-general

On December 10, the United Nations secretary-general, Ban Ki-moon, forwarded a Kosovo negotiations report submitted by the Contact Group Troika of mediators to the UN Security Council. The European Union, United States and Russia diplomats, Wolfgang Ischinger, Frank Wisner and Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko, completed the report after 120 days of unsuccessful talks between the Serbian authorities and the representatives of the Kosovo Albanians.

LDP criminal complaint against Miroslav Mišković

B92 is publishing a document Čedomir Jovanović's Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) included in its criminal complaint against Delta Holding CEO Miroslav Mišković. LDP has given the prosecution what it says is an internal U.S. embassy in Belgrade document, dated May 21, 2007, as part of its evidence against Mišković.

EU Progress Reports 2007

The European Commission on November 6 adopted its annual strategy document explaining its policy on EU enlargement. The document also includes a summary of the progress made over the last twelve months by each candidate and potential candidate, including Serbia and Kosovo (under UN Security Council Resolution 1244).

Hague Tribunal President Fausto Pocar reports to UN

In Monday's address to the UN General Assembly on the presentation of the ICTY's 14th Annual Report, President Fausto Pocar highlighted the organization's "unparalleled efficiency and its profound impact on the development of international criminal justice, while flagging issues relevant to the completion of its mandate", the Hague said in a statement.
