Ukraine turns from revolution to recovery

The uprising in Kiev has apparently reached its conclusion. President Viktor Yanukovich and the opposition reached an agreement, negotiated by the Polish, German and French foreign ministers.

  1. All the rhetoric in your article is known. What you apparently do not want to say is: Russia does NOT want the Ukraine to join the EU and certainly not NATO. Russia is pragmatic, they do not want a NATO nation on their border. Can you imagine a fool like GWB placing missiles in a (NATO member) Ukraine as he scheduled in Poland? Ridiculous! On the other hand, the Crimea and Sevastopol is secure. Russia knows this.

  2. This is one of the best articles I have read on the situation in the Ukraine.
Let’s sum up in plain English what’s going on in the Ukraine.
If Kiev does not get 36 billion Euros it will collapse and the US/EU are calling on the international community to join in a rescue package because they don’t have the available funds. If the new Government does not play the game to Moscow’s liking, the borders will be shut and fuel cut off.
Would that hurt Ukraine? Yes and very badly because what our western media does not tell is 60% of all Ukraine exports go to Russia – no export country collapses.
If Putin is really pissed off he will take the part that belongs to Russia leaving the rest land locked and poor and the EU picking up the bill to feed these people.

  3. This is simply sour grapes on the part of the author, G. Friedman. In fact, Putin is furious because of the Ukrainian Revolution and is crushed because of Russia's poor showing in Hockey, since the Russians fancy themselves as the greatest in the sport.

  4. I'm sure this is payback to Russia by the CIA since Putin interfered in Syria when Obama was trying to conclude talks with Assad. Also, isn't it coincidental that this Ukrainian crisis occured during the Olympics so as to put egg on Putin's face.
