1. You should have asked him how GB is justified to hold the Falkland islands and Serbia is not justified to hold Kosovo!

My God! It was a joy to read your comment and I thank you for airing what another million Serbs feel but perhaps have not yet said!

  3. William Montgomery , former U.S. ambassador: All those who claim the opposite are lying to you consciously or unconsciously ! No matter what you do, Serbia will not be part of the EU before 2018, and perhaps not even then !

Theres your truth, now look elsewhere.

Enjoyed Ljubica's question and style deserves credit.

  4. This is not about choosing between being within the EU without Kosovo or outside the EU with Kosovo. This is about Serbia choosing between being within the EU without Kosovo or outside the EU without Kosovo.
    (Mark, 4 September 2010 01:55)

Mark, you are absolutely right. But the dilemma is still unseen by the majority of the Serbian people because it goes against the pattern by which the events developed during the Serbian history. It has always been: “defiance against stronger powers, against all odds; suffering terrible losses; miraculously ending up on the victorious side and overachieving all goals”. This pattern is regarded by many as a kind of a natural law, the defiance was always glorified, the bitter sufferings justified by the inevitable final victory. This pattern did not work during the last 20 years. The suffering of the Serbian people piled up, so much so that nobody even Tadic dares to cry out: “There will be no miraculous turn of fortune, yet we have a lot more to lose if we keep up our defiance, so lets change our tactic.”

  5. Tadic - its time you were honest with the Serbian population - there is no EU future for ALL of Sovereign Serbia - just as Vojislav Koštunica said all along.

    You miss the point...

European future or no European future, will not bring Kosovo back.

This is not about choosing between being within the EU without Kosovo or outside the EU with Kosovo.

This is about Serbia choosing between being within the EU without Kosovo or outside the EU without Kosovo.

  6. EA,

    - you miss the point not even for EU membership - which is what Hague gives as a carrot (that which he has no guarantee to be able to deliver) Serbia will never renounce loss of its full soverign and territorial integrity as was re-confirmed after 78 days of bombardment in UNSC 1244 - which explicitly states Kosovo & Metohija is integral to Serbia.

Serbia has its red lines and its upto the likes of the US, UK France & Germany et al to square the circle of their own making in undermining international law. Their carrot of EU membership has no value in comparison to that of upholding the heart of Serbia - Kosovo & Metohija and the more the likes of Hague and the German FM suggest otherwise the more they undermine any desire of EU integration for all Serbs across the whole of the Balkans!

Like I said the more forthright Hague et al are the better for Serbia as it can then go ahead with full reflection & clarity knowing that the best path is not always that most travelled
    - and the future we will embrace!

  7. "So lets move forward to a future of our own making based on our own independent principles and not one that is in the interest of Germany or the UK at the loss of Serbia's."

Good for you Princip, why Serbia need EU. As it is without Kosovo it is too big needs to be trimmed down a bit futher especially with "patriots" like you.

  8. "Well, I think that even if Serbia were to win it there is a new difficulty which is then set on a course of action which cannot succeed, which is in conflict with most of the EU. I can’t stress that point too strongly, that the great majority of the EU has recognized Kosovo, a great majority of the Council of Europe as well."

-- Politely telling Serbia here that the policies in Europe are made bu the UK, France, Germany and that Serbia will regret attempts to impose its will and its policies on these countries. Your choice now.

  9. Tadic - its time you were honest with the Serbian population - there is no EU future for ALL of Sovereign Serbia - just as Vojislav Koštunica said all along.

So lets move forward to a future of our own making based on our own independent principles and not one that is in the interest of Germany or the UK at the loss of Serbia's.

Interesting the French have not sent their own personal message - I guess they are too busy with the non-EU concept of forced repatriation of EU citizens - another sign of how the EU is all about the big few interest that such dublicitnous can be carried out by the big countries while the "lesser" nations must accept all diktak.

Hagues interviews spells the end of Serbia's EU only path - time for Tadic to come clean with whats now glaringly obvious.

Thanks Hague for being so forthright and providing once more an example of EUcrats pulling the rug from under Tadic from those he calls "friends"!

The future is brighter with real choice rather than only one path - bye bye DS with the lie that EU only path for Serbia - given this is being openly blocked unless you lose Kosovo & Metohija!

Indecent Proposal is exactly what the EU is proposing - time to walk another path!

  10. The guy is talking complete rubbish.

For a start, outside of his role as foreign secretary, he has little right to talk about Europe since both he and his party are considered here to be largely 'euro-sceptic' and spend most of their time trying to opt out of everything Europe does. Increasingly the UK is seen as less influential in Europe because of this and rightly so.

Why listen to the UK talking about Europe when they won't join the Euro (currency) they opt out of a common bill of human rights, and want to go their own way on pretty much everything constructive that europe does?

The UK is probably the least integrated part of Europe and aren't even a part of the Schengen agreement! For him to talk about European unity is nothing but hypocritical nonsense from a failed former party leader who was kicked out of that job at the first opportunity for being 'unelectable'.
