“The most important reason for the formation of the cabinet is that the country needs a legitimate government while the decisive battle for Kosovo-Metohija is being fought in the UN Security Council,” he said.
He added that it could now be seen "Antisaari was wrong if thinking that Serbia would witness Kosovo’s status settlement process end without the government in office."
“According to the Serbian Constitution, Serbia's internationally recognized borders are absolutely unchangeable and Serbia cannot be even an inch smaller than it is today,” the prime minister underscored.
According to him, Serbia advocated genuine co-operation with all countries in the region, striving to continue its European integration and development.
“Serbia naturally insists that all our partners respect the fact that its borders, as those of any other state, are definite and inviolable,” Koštunica concluded in the statement.
Both Tadic & Kostunica are powerful figures to the West that Serbia is pro-EU but the EU must understand that Kosovo & Metohija is and always will be integral to Serbia. Only through genuine dialogue looking at all possible scenarios and alternatives can a real "negotiated" settlement be achieved and thus far the only ones supporting this are the Russians. If he EU is genuine and about wanting Serbia in the EU it needs to drop it's insistance of pushing through the dismemberment of the UN recognised state of Serbia.
I am looking forward to the discussions at the G8 summit when the way forward will be discussed seeing as the plan Ahtisaari is now well and truly on hold - unless of course we have "Ahtisaari minus staus" - which might conceivably be a good basis for a new resolution!

Poor Kostunica! Il est le dindon de la farce! I do not know the English expression for this; it simply means that it is easy for Kustonica to be duped!
The first thing he should do if he wants stability in Serbia is to deliver Mladic! Funny he did not understand this! Serbia is going down the drain with people like Kostunica and Nikolic... and he does not see it!

People have a right to be free and choose their own government. Pieces of paper are meaningless in that context, especially your "constitution"

If I understand the new government deal and Serbian political system correctly (I'm a foreigner here, so I'm by no means an authority on the subject!), then the task of finding/revealing/delivering Mladic and Karadzic now rests with Tadic, and not Kostunica. Thankfully. We can only hope that from this point on, Tadic fully understands the importance of carrying this out, and actually does so.

"Pieces of paper are meaningless in that context, especially your 'constitution'"...When majority Mexican S. Califonia and Texas declare themselves independent, I'll be looking for your silly quote to rear its ugly head once more.

Yes people do have the right to choose their own government and the people of the Republic of Serbia did so. Just because the ethnic - Albanians choose not vote in the elections it does not make it any less legal.

Anthony, you are wrong because K-Alb. were not even included on voting list and no such offer took place. On contrary Kostunica was very open on this subject and did not think that there is a need for Albaninas to included in the proces of election. This tells us that he wants the land but not the people. Therefore he is the big looser, becasue the people of Kosova will not give up this land to serbia and alikes of Koshtunica.
