“Kosovo's independence is a legitimate, fair and lawful outcome. While some have argued that independence would be a precedent for other separatist movements, we reject this notion completely. As with solutions to the other conflicts related to Yugoslavia's collapse, the Ahtisaari proposals are tailored to local circumstances and bear no relevance to other countries in Europe or other continents,” Burns said in his testimony.
Burns is all wrong. Kosovo will be carved out of Serbian territory. It is one thing for Serbia to hava a relationship with Bosnia or Croatia or Macedonia. It's another think entirely to recognized a state CARVED out of SERBIAN territory. It will be an illegal state carved out of Serbian territory and that will never ever be accepted or recognized. Ever.

I'm actually hoping that Kosovo's independence will be the tool to push Serbia further away from the West. Keeping Central Serbia and Vojvodina out of the grasp of western imperialism would be the greatest acheivement in Europe of this new century. Please Mr. Burns, make my dreams come true!

I'm sorry about naive Kosovo Albanians. They started to belive that they are POWERFUL NATION. They are nothing from point of view of Nicolas Burns.
They are used as a tool of US, UK & German imperializam in the war against Slavs. They will get nothing for their devotion. Just occupaing US forces in Bondsteal Camp that will never move away.

zbyszek, "They are used as a tool of US, UK & German imperializam in the war against Slavs. ". A war against slavs? Could it be that serbia is a cause of its own pain? Its no coincidence that countries around serbia dont want to deal with serbia. anyway, it will be good for serbia is kosovo is independent.
