It is, as Blic writes, about the city of Bakhmut, located in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region, which was the capital of Slavic Serbia, which was founded by Serbian settlers from Austria in the 18th century.
Fighting is taking place both in and around the city, and the reports from the field are different. Some sources say that the private military company Wagner broke through Ukrainian defenses in that area.
Ukrainian sources on the ground say that Bakhmut is generally well fortified. But in recent days, the defense has "started to loosen", writes the site Bulgarianmilitary.com.
Allegedly, there are also hundreds of dead Ukrainian soldiers.
Bakhmut is a key city for the counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces. Russia realizes this and has certain tactical and strategic goals to try to turn the tide in favor of the Russian armed forces. Western military experts claim that Bakhmut could become "the determining factor of the entire special military operation" of the Russian Federation.
According to the former Supreme Commander of NATO forces in Europe, General Wesley Clark, Russia is setting a "fire trap" for Ukrainian forces in the area.
If Ukraine's armed forces suffer "significant losses," it will give Russian President Vladimir Putin leverage to force Kyiv into a temporary ceasefire or even a ceasefire, Clark said.
Ukrainian forces are largely positioned in and around the city, including the mud-soaked trenches that separate the shattered parts of the country hit by relentless shelling.
As Russia has moved new formations into the area in recent weeks, including reinforcements previously in the Kherson region, fighting in the Bakhmut sector has turned into trench warfare reminiscent of the First and Second World Wars.
The focus of much of the recent fighting, however, is that Bakhmut has been all but destroyed and abandoned, with both sides sending in reinforcements for a battle that has continued relentlessly since the summer as Moscow tries to secure victory after a series of battlefield setbacks and retreats.

However, Russia's goal may not only be to capture the city. Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the infamous Wagner mercenary group taking part in the war, said his forces are mainly focusing their efforts on destroying the Ukrainian army, writes AFP.

According to some of the posters here, the Russian army should have been able to take Bakhmut with their total air superiority and their ultra-hyper-super-duper missiles. Instead, the battle has been going on for many weeks now and it's still in Ukrainian hands.
What's going on? I guess they are taking weeks and weeks and pumping reinforcements in because that is their strategy all along, some will say.

So far the overall loses in Ukraine, and this is accepted even by the west, is for every Russian killed in action 10 Ukrainians die.
I don’t post crap. These are facts. At this rate very soon there will be very few of your Ukrainian warriors left, but I hear there are a lot of NATO mercenaries in Ukrainian ranks.

Yes, it will. You have no idea just what Ukraine is all about here, do you? Ukraine is a money laundering exercise on a massive scale. Money given to Ukraine goes there, Ellensky and others take their cut then it goes out and families like the Biden’s, Obamas, Clintons etc get their share and become richer and richer while people like you wear shoes with holes in them and waive the freedom and democracy flags.
Military warehouses through out the EU have been emptied and weapons sent to Ukraine. It will take 3 decades for most of these countries to replace that equipment and that is provided economic conditions are good.

Germany is incapable of generating a single armoured brigade for service in the field, having had to cannibalize its garrison forces to make ready the single battalion-sized battlegroup it has deployed to the Baltics.
The British and French armies are in a similar sad state. It’s come out that Macron told Biden France has no more arms to give to Ukraine.

Yes, because drawing out a war and keeping it "low-level" is certainly cost-effective and will "drain" NATO's economies dry to the point of collapse.
