"Therefore, it is possible that there will be a redistribution of some global relations. Bosnia-Herzegovina will certainly become a member of NATO. It can even be a blitzkrieg, to the surprise of many. And it may happen that we will still have to come to an agreement and find a compromise solution, in what way, in terms of interoperability, equipment... But the allies are also ready to help," said Sifet Podžić.
According to his words, it is very significant that in the Final Declaration of the NATO Summit, out of 22 points, Bosnia-Herzegovina is mentioned in two.
He also told Radio Sarajevo that Bosnia-Herzegovina in Madrid was placed equally in the security architecture of Europe's defense in the current crisis, together with all other NATO members.
"They told us that they count on us as a serious partner, as an equal member of NATO regarding the current crisis. As they want to help these countries that are in immediate danger, near the conflict between Russia and Ukraine (which is a classic aggression), they also put Bosnia and Herzegovina in that program. We have already applied for 13 programs through the BiH Armed Forces (OSBiH). Everyone gave maximum support without reservation. They will give us funds, which is very good considering all these budgetary crises of ours," emphasizes the Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Another strong message, he says, is a possible Russian veto in the UN Security Council regarding the extension of the EUFOR Mission.
"There is also strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Everyone said that the allies are already preparing a response in case that happens. They will be ready to take over that process. Definitely, without any consideration, NATO will immediately get involved. So, in case someone veto in November, NATO will take responsibility for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The sources for this are the Dayton Peace Agreement and the Berlin Plus Agreement. So, we see that this issue has been deeply considered," he said. When asked what exactly will happen if the Russians veto the EUFOR Mission, Podžić points out:
"Such ideas were not mentioned at the working dinner. But I am so convinced by all the ministers that the allies are ready to respond in case that veto appears. I saw that it is not some phrase, but that something is being done. U.S. Secretary Austin clarified that it's all legal. It's regulated in Dayton and added to Berlin Plus. So there's no possibility of any blockages."
A few things are quietly accepted even by western analysts and that is that Russia will win in Ukraine and this will have a catastrophic effect on NATO. It will mean that NATO/west have thrown everything at Russia, from economic to new weaponry and nothing has worked. Once Ukraine is done, the breakup of NATO will slowly commence because if NATO cannot defeat Russia, then it’s useless.
“NATO will take responsibility for Bosnia and Herzegovina.” No, it will not take any responsibility unless there is agreement amongst the three constituted people and no there is NOTHING in the Dayton Agreement about NATO; that’s BS. If there is no agreement an entry of any military force is illegal under International Law.
You have to ignore Llyod Austin, I doubt if he knows the difference between his arse and his elbow. The way he reached 4 stars was by grovelling to the right people not through ability, sadly like most US high ranking military today.
These people live in a parallel universe not on planet earth. For example, Stoltenberg announcing the 300,000 rapid reaction force. There isn’t one and there will NOT be such a force. All the individual NATO countries will do is declare existing units as “rapid reaction” without the necessary equipment and that’s it. The cost of maintain such a group is staggering. Its 24/7 365days a year. It would run into hundreds of billions of dollars. No one has that money.
The best the Bosnians got was a free dinner.
