He stated that Moscow would consider the deployment of certain offensive missile capacities on the territory of Ukraine as a "trigger".
At the investment forum in Moscow, Putin said that he hoped that common sense would prevail on all sides, but he also wanted NATO to be aware of Russia's concerns regarding its own security, and in relation to Ukraine, Reuters reports.
"If some strike systems appear on the territory of Ukraine, the flight time to Moscow will be 7-10 minutes, and five minutes in the case of the use of hypersonic weapons. Just imagine that," Putin said. "What should we do in such a scenario? Then we will have to do something similar in relation to those who threaten us in that way. And we can do that now," Putin said.
According to him, Russia has just successfully tested a hypersonic rocket that will be in use at the beginning of the new year and which has a flight time of 5 minutes and a speed nine times faster than the speed of sound. "The creation of such threats (in Ukraine) is a red line for us. But I hope that will not happen. I hope that common sense and responsibility will prevail, both in our two countries and in the world community," Putin said.
Russian President emphasized that he has justified concerns in Russia due to, as he says, the fact that large-scale exercises are being carried out near its borders, including unplanned ones, as was recently the case in the Black Sea, when strategic bombers flew 20 kilometers from Russian borders.
Will he run again?
Putin also said he has yet to decide whether to run for president again when his current term ends in 2024.
Putin said that he has the right to run again, but that he has not decided yet.
In April, Russian president signed a law that allows him to run for two more six-year terms, reminds Reuters.
The US is not doing well on a few fronts such as political leadership with dementia Joe and the most incompetent VR in US history K. Harris. Plus, the US economy is an even bigger mess. The Fed Reserve Chair Powell admitted that the term "transitional inflation should be retired", meaning it’s here to stay and will continue to keep rising.
So as a diversion they will try a little war in Ukraine in say early spring 2022 thinking they can control it if it looks like getting out of hand. In fact, they are looking for two things; a quick Russian defeat and as a consequence pushing Russia away from China. These people have no military background but are all from the self-appreciating delusional society of the State Department.
Even I know that war is unpredictable at best and I have never served in the military. If they embark on such a folly, they are going to humiliate the US on the world stage and it will not recover from it.

sj,
Powell said transitory and not transitional. You should consult a dictionary when you encounter a word for the first time. Otherwise, your lack of logic is causing you must embarrassment.

Putin has backed down because of Biden’s threat. Little Vlad will have to pull back his troops or face an annihilating defeat. Remember NATO is 90% American.

My Russian friends concur that Putin will not dare invade Ukraine simply because the price Russia will have to pay is prohibitive. As most honest observers know, the Russian economy has been weak for some time now due to existing sanctions. Currently, Russia’s economy is the size of Italy’s. Furthermore, the price of oil and gas will drop because the US and Saudi Arabia will open their spigot and drive the price down to a level that will not be profitable for Russia. However, this is only for starters as the US has many other options to bring Russia to its knees.
