Just to put things in a clear perspective, only an idiot doesn't understand that there is nothing more that undermined the EU and destroyed Europe as a whole than America's wars in Europe's backyard and neighborhood, Middle Eastern countries. Europe will never again recover from the consequences of those wars and biblical exodus of those populations. Do their politicians protest? No, too afraid of America. They know like everybody knows and like the President of Albania recently said that americans can easily kill them or find a way to oust them for life.

sj, being critical of the US foreign policy doesn't mean being an enemy. In fact these US guys should thank us, because all we do is offering free advise for them on how the rest of the world perceives the only "superpower". It would be easier for us not to conform to the official stupidity that reigns in our countries where the US is lauded in blind way as was the Ussr or China yesterday. There are some things good about amerucan guys for example I liked for real the fact that US solders didn't abandon their service dogs in Afganistan and brought them back home. But these guys need to understand that the world is waking up. The Onion's authors for example seem to have understood.

That is because Europe still lives under the jackboot of the US. They are vassal states and the US knows very well how to divide Europe. Also observe the UK. Ever since Brexit they have become very active politically and militarily on the continent. It is their way of staying relevant in Europe.
I wouldn't be so keen to have US involved in Europe. They wouldn't hesitate to turn the continent is a smoking pile of rubble in order to maintain their global dominance.

I got a good laugh today with the comment that US diplomats are “chosen by merit”. It’s more like patronage appointments , nothing more, nothing less. An old boys club where they rotate with different postings, call it a retirement package. They are essentially spies and there is no love loss of Christopher Hill in Serbia or Nicholas Burns in Greece for that matter. If you think they are hired for their “expertise” you only need to look at Biden who was chairmen of the foreign relations committee and clashed with a real expert senator George Voinovic who is an American Serb and Croat. The pundits talking point is that Biden has never got one foreign policy decision right most recently Afghanistan , they may be right.

I would be flattered if the opposition was of some calibre, but these are low level operatives that have read/heard something then put their own spin which is usually wrong.
I have never said the US lost interest in the Balkans because they have not, but what I have been saying is that they are no longer in control. They think it’s still the 1990s. Washington is full of these people that live in fantasyland just like they talk of defeating Russia by limited use of nuclear weapons which is utter stupidity. This talk was around back in the late 1970s until it was proven wrong.
The region has already slipped through their fingers it’s just that the US don’t realise it yet. The US is no longer in Central Asia, its about to leave Iraq and Syria. In Syria the US is constantly being bombed by suicide drones. Step by step they are being pushed out but the Albos think they are going to protect them. Sj and myself Iskander have always claimed a different very different thing and that is that the more interest the US put in a region the more that particular region will slip away towards greener pastures say Russia or China for example. See Afganistan.

The US has one of the most capable of diplomatic corps, the reason being is the diplomats in the US are chosen by merit. This is not so in most of the world where cronyism is the most common method of determining political appointments. One need only look at Serbia as a glaring example of where cronyism is employed, no pun intended.
