Djokovic was disqualified from the tournament on Sunday because he hit the line judge with the ball in the course of the first set against Pablo Carreno Busta.
After a short deliberation, the Chief Judge and the Supervisor decided to disqualify the first seed from the tournament.
"This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I‘m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I’m not disclosing her name to respect her privacy. As for the disqualification, I need to go back within and work on my disappointment and turn this all into a lesson for my growth and evolution as a player and human being. I apologize to the @usopen tournament and everyone associated for my behavior. I’m very grateful to my team and family for being my rock support, and my fans for always being there with me. Thank you and I’m so sorry", Novak wrote on Instagram.
Djokovic, among other consequences, was deprived of all the points he earned on this year's tournament (which, taking into account the new rules, is zero points) and of the entire prize fund.
Serbian tennis player is not the first "bigger" name to be disqualified from a big tournament, since David Nalbandian at Queens finals, and Tim Henman at Wimbledon, previously experienced disqualification...
However, the organizers of the US Open reacted according to the rules in this case.
Federer is 39 and nowhere in the history of tennis has any other player managed to do what he has so far i.e. play for this long. This man plays like he is 25.
Serena Williams is 38 and the same goes for her. In fact she does not play for several months of the year and yet she manages to finish in the semi or finals of grand slams.
What? these people are doing so well because of magic?
Lance Armstrong, an arse hole of a person, was on drugs winning I think 6 Tour de France until finally caught. His team mates knew he was using, the US cycling association knew he was using, but nothing was done.
The rules in tennis are very strict where officials are concerned and they specifically say that abusing the Umpire/officials is forbidden with severe penalties.
You wonder why I call you a goat herder. Perhaps I was wrong, you just might be dumb.

You're again resorting to conspiracies, now, apparently Federer is known drug user well. Where you get this info from, I have no idea, but apparently it's a fact. As for the incident in question, accidentally or on purpose doesn't matter, the reason rules are pretty straight forward and he broke them. In regards to Serena, no idea, maybe you want to point me to the section on code of conduct where she would have had to be disqualified. As for goats, you need new material sj, you've been regurgitating that for too long

otally correct decision. Interlnt doesn't matter here. As for she's conspiracy addled mind...seek help sj, it's not too late still

OK its a conspiracy. Tell me why Serina Williams was not disqualified when she went on that rant against the Umpire and called him a cheat? What? calling the Umpire a cheat is OK but God forbid if you accidentally hit an Umpire with a tennis ball.
Sweety time for you to milk those goats.

The problem with people like Silas and David is simple. They are so clueless its comedic. They think everything that flies is edible so their thoughts on the subject are childish and puerile.
For their edification everything is used from sport to diplomacy to military action. Why is is that US athletes found to have tested positive by WADA using banned substances have not been banned? Simple they used freedom drugs. Serina Williams and Roger Federer use performance enhancing drugs but not a word just like Lance Armstrong. The American cyclist body knew. His "team" mates knew. It was only after he wanted more wins that it became embarrassing that they "found" he was on drugs LOL.
You guys are so simple they could sell you the Brooklyn bridge.

Your comment applies to Serbs only, because of their egos, they would be the only ones that would be hurt. The rest of us don’t give a $hit!
(Silas, 7 September 2020 19:18)
This comment is so poor, this has nothing to do with the West not liking him. He does that to himself, first promoting not to VAX. Than he came with a so called guru who can clean toxic water with positive thinking. than the bad judgement with his tennis exhibition in the Balkan which was a good idea but not at the time. Now this again, the rule is clear about this and just last year 13 players received the same penalty. So don't talk stupid shit.

If you think the disqualification was an accident think again. How many times has this type of incident occurred in the past? I have lost count and in fact I have seen worse where a racket was thrown on the court which bounced and hit a ball boy. What was the punishment? Nothing at all.
If this was intentional I would be the first to say he should be disqualified, but it was not. As a Serb, who represents people who do not bend to western BS, that’s what he gets.
The problem with Djokovic is simple. He wants to be loved by everyone, but the western media only pushes the likes Williams, Nadal and Federer. I understand it but Djokovic does not. He will never be loved by the leaders of the west so the answer is to get even by winning as many tournaments as possible, retire an even wealthier person. Sometimes after the retirement these westerners will try and ease their consciousness by offering awards for being the best etc etc.
The answer should be “when it would have meant something, I was overlooked but now it means nothing to me so keep it for someone worthier”. Believe me this would really hurt them.
