Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic announced this morning that he and Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic recently proposed to the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Amfilohije to suspend the application of the Law on Freedom of Religion until the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights rule their decision, but that the Metropolitan, in spite of that, called for the continuation of the liturgy.
"As you know, and as I told the public, on several occasions I responded and met with Metropolitan Amfilohije, on the occasion of the Law on Freedom of Religion and other important issues that arose in the relations between the state and the Orthodox Church. This was also the case a few days ago, when we, Metropolitan Amfilohije and Bishop Ioanikije, responded to the invitation of President Milo Djukanovic, as the highest representatives of the executive power in Montenegro. That meeting was a confirmation of our respect for the Metropolitanate and other dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church, but also a confirmation of our lasting commitment to conduct a dialogue and seek common and best solutions. The conversation we had was meaningful, long and constructive, and ended with clear proposals that President Djukanovic and I announced, and whose goal is to get out of the current situation that burdens the overall social environment. Specifically - the Government was ready to suspend the implementation of the Law on Freedom of Religion until a decision on its correctness is made by the Constitutional Court of Montenegro and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. "At the same time, we offered and proposed the continuation of the started negotiations at the expert level for the next week, for which the Government team was preparing during the previous period," Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dusko Markovic said. He added that a different reaction followed from the other side.
PV @DuskoMarkovicCG se obratio javnosti: @predsjednik_cg i ja smo nedavno imali dug i sadržajan sastanak sa mitropolitom Amfilohijem. Predložili smo obustavu primjene Zakona o slobodi vjeroispovijesti do izjašnjenja Ustavnog suda i Evropskog suda za ljudska prava. (1/3) pic.twitter.com/Sphs0r932m
"Unfortunately, on the other hand, the response was Metropolitan Amfilohije's call to organize liturgies, which is interpreted as a continuation of misunderstandings and confrontations that we do not want in the government, because they hinder our civic harmony and prosperity. In addition to rejecting dialogue, and therefore chances to find a sustainable solution, the Serbian Orthodox Church continues to violate the law at every opportunity, even when it comes to the established practice of illegal construction within church properties, and outside them", Markovic stated. Markovic said that Montenegro is a democratic society of European and Euro-Atlantic values in which public gatherings are allowed as long as they do not endanger the rights of others, and added that the Government will ensure their realization in accordance with the law and current rules.
"Therefore, the announced liturgies must be organized in a way that implies the implementation of epidemiological measures and recommendations, while respecting the health and lives of all citizens, and all in the spirit of equal application of the law, which is a standard that binds every individual and every collective." Along with the call to respect law, the Metropolitanate and the dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church still have the opportunity to jointly seek solutions in the best interests of Orthodox believers within the dialogue and legal system of Montenegro. Our intention is to leave an environment and legacy that will not be a burden to future generations, seeking for a solution, without any blackmail and pressure. And until that happens, the laws will apply to everyone in Montenegro, including the Serbian Orthodox Church and its believers", Markovic concluded in an address to the public.
Well,Markovic's command of the Serbian language is exemplary only one slight problem he uses it to talk nonsense. Could someone ask him to refrain from using the word democratic since as a politician,he,of all people should know that no such thing exists anywhere in the world least of all in Montenegro!

You have to assume Djukanovic is lying (it's a habit). His argument is also nonsensical. If he is to be a good European, the law should automatically be suspended until the ECHR ruling. But he's not. He's playing the magnanimous Big Balkan Man. I don't know who he thinks he is kidding with this.
There's effective silence in the rest of Europe as they don't mind criminals, racists, fascists and general scum as long as they are pro-EU (hello Croatia - Dinamo Zagreb supporters/Thomson etc.)!
Well at least Montenegro is in NATO. That's a plus for someone who has half a brain cell.

This is my prediction - the election this fall in CG will be landslide victory for the opposition, and they will finally rid themselves of: repression, discrimination and a dictatorship. On the other hand, due to the extreme nature of the "current regime" and undemocratic tactics and behavior, I see massive arrests, court cases and even asset seizures of those suspected of "corruption," "embezzlement" and "fraud" to "prove ownership" to name but a few. The reality is, as a politician in CG, how can some politicians justify holding assets worth "millions of Euros" when their salaries were under a 1000 Euros monthly. The money will be traced. It will be interesting, but there will be many court cases - that is guaranteed - as will be the jail sentences. Going forward after the regime change, I predict a new constitution and many new anti-corruption mechanisms will be in place, as will be the registry of all "foreign" entities doing lobbying in CG.

Serb's doing what they know best to do and that is to destroy each other. Don't worry so much Crna Gora your tiny puppet nation will crumble under criminal dictator Djukanovic's feet, you will be forgotten and no one will want to remember your minute existence !!!

Djukanovic even looks stupid. Never underestimate the SPC leadership and if you do, its at your own peril. Amfilohije is no fool, but one the smartest people around.
On the other hand the US and their western allies love stupid people because they are very easy to manage, but because they are stupid they can make terrible mistakes which could easily bring to power others that are not as accommodating as Djuko.

There is a huge difference between the term "suspend" proposed by the ruling regime, and the term "annul" sought by the oppressed and discriminated Church and people.
