Except that all trace of Illyrians is lost except the Illyrian writing which is how the Glagolitic writing used to be called in medieval times. Of course it wasn't the original Illyrian writing, just a medieval hoax. But you can see the modernized version of it in HR. Often road signs with names of the town are in both Latin and Glagolitsa.
Serbs are known to came from where today Sorbs live, this is the border region between Germany and Poland.
The last time the word "Illyrian" was used in original sense was around 7th century, afterwards it was either referred to Glagolitsa or was re-cycled at the end of 19th century.
As for language (according Wiki):

Let me put an end to this silly argument about being Montenegrin or Serb. It's rather simple, everyone in the balkans is of Serbian descent. This includes Croatians, Bosnians, and Albanians; consequently,,the problems came when each group took the identity of the occupiers at the time. I'll make an assumption and say these were weaker Serbian families that opted to conform rather than fight. In particular, the Albanians taking on Turkish customs and religion. See, a very simple and truthful observation. As we all know here, the Serbs are the original race (Illyrians) of the Balkans.

Absolutely. You are 200% right. Агим Краснићић and Мехмет Османспахић are Serbs, even if they would show up with Montenegrin passport. Томислав Рибар is also a Serb. He just happen to be a catholic, but who cares? If he shows up with Montenegrin passport instead of Croatian, it is his (minor) technical problem.
I think Croatian passport is far better, than Montenegrin.
