Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will attend the start of the construction of a $ 745 million worth road.
Opposition representatives, on the other hand, oppose the construction of the highway, saying it is unnecessary, but also too expensive project.
One of the leaders of the Alliance for Serbia, Dragan Djilas, opposes the construction of the Moravian Corridor.
The opposition, by its impedance, shows that it does not think about the inhabitants of Kraljevo, Cacak and Krusevac for who this road will be of greatest significance, as was evident in recent years.
Weeklies NIN and Vreme in their articles unjustifiably criticised the start of the construction of the highway, emphasising the "futility of spending money".
In the weekly newspaper "Vreme", it is stated that "simple logic" shows that the "Moravian corridor is meaningless" because, as stated, "the citizens of Kraljevo will certainly not go to Krusevac when travelling to Belgrade, Vojvodina or the west, nor will Krusevac citizens go through Kraljevo, while heading towards the same destination".
They believe that this section is of secondary importance and that "there is no economic justification for its construction".
The lack of roads in eastern Serbia is also mentioned, and therefore the start of construction of a section of the highway passing through the western part of the country is highly criticised.
Bechtel, an American construction and engineering corporation, will work on the construction of the road, and as NIN says, the road under construction is "apart from being too expensive, also completely unneeded".
President of Serbia said at the commencement ceremony that, due to such attitude and standpoints, the people from the opposition did not build any roads.
"I think you need to ask all these people that we mentioned. It's the backbone of the whole region, it means life for the people here. The highway brings investments, it brings business", Vucic said.
"When they say they don't need those roads, I understand them, that's why they hadn't constructed any of them", Serbian President concluded.
approaching a roundabout north of Kruševac this morning....the new ultramodern roundabout fifty meters beyond NIS Petrol
(Make Serbia Great, 15 December 2019 18:46)
I also “approached” the same roundabout on Jasicki road just 1 minute ago while virtually driving the road with my index finger on Google maps.
Notably, the roundabout with modern fountains is in reality slightly more than 100 meters from the Nis petrol station.
Funny thing was that the Nis petrol station was selling gasoline, just like Knez petrol on the same road was also selling gasoline, just like the OMV station north on the same road was also selling gasoline. Next time MSG “approaches” such places in his fantasy land, perhaps he should reconcile the real life fact with his fantasy that “no one here has the extra cash to enjoy a gasoline engine”.

As I have said many times I am not a fan of politicians but I do give credit when it is deserved.
The real question here is what did the opposition aka Tadic and Jeremic do when in government except borrow money to increase pensions and wages and once they lost the elections had to be reduced otherwise Serbia would have gone bankrupt?
Serbia was 72% of GDP in debt and today its less than 52%.
You work out what is a waste of time in this instance. The current government or opposition?

Roads are built to be used by everyone.
Some research must have been done before start of the project to determine number of drivers, compynies needing.

Yeah, the very same Serbian opposition that demands the Paris Gate think that road, highway is a waste of time, RESOURCES.That ought to link communities, and deliver goods faster.
Help!

I agree with you. Roads are crucial, and that monument is a monumental waste of taxpayer money!
But what do you think about the specific critique levelled by the opposition that few drivers would utilize that route?

When we were approaching a roundabout north of Kruševac this morning, I mentioned to my wife that it looks like someone is opening a heavy machine dealership. As we got closer, I noticed that although the machines were nicely lined up, they were dirty. They had been recently used. Just before we reached the roundabout, I spotted a stage. Not sure how such a combination would arise, I looked more closely as I entered the roundabout. I discovered a sign advertising the Moravian corridor. Is this the location where Vučić will give his speech? (Just south, across the river, from Jasika) I bought tools from BOSS, located between the roundabout and the new ultramodern roundabout fifty meters beyond NIS Petrol. Kruševac is changing but the gawdy new roundabout doesn't fit with the remains of the medieval fortress just beyond it, nor the ultra-ugly bus station which hasn't been cleaned since Tito's birth...
Perhaps the saddest news is that the etno selo/restoran/hotel near Makresane doesn't seem to be open anymore. It was a bad decision to build the facility in a high risk area for flooding.
