1. And BTW: please count the number of mass shootings in above four countries, combined. I mean, during the last 10 years, from Poznan to Vladivostok.
    (Ataman, 5 December 2019 10:59)

The number of road fatalities in Russia last year was greater than 18,000, right?

If you consider a mass shooting where three or more persons are shot in the same event, then it appears that 387 were killed in the United States last year. That's out of a population of 327,200,000 people. Although some people try to make it sound like Americans are almost in danger of extinction, it is mostly television hype. Sputnik is a professional at exaggeration.

  2. Make Serbia Great.....I have no idea what you are spewing out, and its clear that you dont either.
Just a point to pick up on.... yes everyone tries to look after their elders, if at all possible. But when an elderly person has so many issues and cant walk, go to the toilet and needs 24 hr help what do you propose??
And if they need an operarion, have cancer, a heart condition, etc, your answer is pay for treatment yourself..??? Because if a National Health Service helps you then you are a socialist? Is that what you are saying? Dont you know that everyone working in the UK pays tax and some of that tax goes on the NHS. So we the people pay for it. And we the people want it that way. And we think it aint fair that a person of modest earnings cant see a doctor but a wealthy man has the best, simply because he has the funds. I'm glad we are socialists here in England.....
Just a final question..... what is wrong with you...????

(View from the uk, 4 December 2019 18:19)

Your post reflects your level of maturity.

What my post has to do with Albanians is completely beyond me. Again, people like you and sj and Peggy have this odd way of dividing the world, as though Albanians and Serbs are opposite sides of the coin. The reality is that people are still people all the way around the world. Solomon wrote about this in Ecclesiasties.

Being a long-term resident of Serbia, I see, touch, feel, and hear. How is it going from the UK?

I don't need anyone to believe that I am Serbian. If you have a problem with that, you need to take it up with the government. They're the ones who issue my passport.

I, and my religious tradition, have a long history of taking care of our elders. That is not socialism; that is taking care of those in need, especially of our own family. Socialism is when the state (staffed mostly by non-Christian persons) becomes the provider and caretaker. A deplorable situation. But you don't seem to understand the ways or teachings of Jesus Christ, so you wouldn't understand.

  4. "Muslims; The US has destroyed so many muslim nations, turned them upside down and helped themselves to their natural resources."

Problem with your logic is that they were already upside down before the US military arrived. That spoils your entire argument. You are very one-sided, not looking at the full reality. Please point to a single country where the US government is stealing resources. You've been reading too much one-sided Sputnik!

"Your point about why people dont emigrate to China & Russia was answered by me. But you ignore the fact they dont go to Japan...!!"

The problem with your logic is that westerners don't need another well-to-do place to live; they've already got it.

"You daft point about Moscow and hitching horses is about what??"

When I would reach a village on the other side of Negotin, I would be as close to Moscow as an average Chinese person is to a western lifestyle. Its sad I had to spell it out for you.

  5. But how is it that sj and Peggy ended up in the far away destination known as Australia? It isn't exactly bordering Serbia...
    (Make Serbia Great, 4 December 2019 11:22)

Because not everyone has a hard-currency-convertible profession.
With such profession you really do not care less: are you in Serbia, US of A, Russia or China.

You rather start to count other things. For instance that the Chinese, Korean or Japanese culture is very far from our. Than that Chinese do not have immigrant visas (SURPRISE!!!) - so if you consider to live in Mainland China or Taiwan you have a major immigration challenge.

Than, if you happen to have chances to get a citizenship of Singapore / M'Land China / Taiwan / Japan - just FYI: you will automatically lose it if it turns out, you may have an other citizenship!

Imagine children of Singaporean citizens born in Canada or USA. The life is a hell on earth for them (and I happen to know a case!).

So if sj or Peggy do not want to live in China (Taiwan / Singapore / Japan) but still think highly of these places - it's perfectly normal.

I can imagine myself to live in RU or HU (in the fact, I spend a lot of time in HU) - but I would not advise anyone doing the same. I would not advise anyone even to move to Latvia / Lithuania / Estonia unless they are 100% perfect (I am not saying FLUENT, I am saying PERFECT) in Russian. These are quite OK places tough and given the opportunity I would move to EE / LV / LT in nu minutes.

    (Make Serbia Great, 4 December 2019 11:20)

SJ - ever driven in RU? Don't think so. I can tell about the European part of the country, last time I spent there on four wheels was this Summer. I felt safer than in the U.S. or Germany simply because in 2019 there are less chances to "meet" a drunk driver in Ukraine / Russia / Belarus than in Germany or the U.S.

This is due the law enforcement, peer pressure ("driving and drinking is very uncool") and the sometimes draconian fines. The later are rarely applied because simply there is no reason to do that. As far as UA / BY / RU the progress in last 10 years is huge.

In my 10+ years in the area I did see only one drunk driver, that was in Ukraine. All this is done quite ruthlessly - including Poland which is in EU. But after all, it's not obligatory to drive a car in Russia / Ukraine / Belarus / Poland. You do, than you know what could be the consequences.

And BTW: please count the number of mass shootings in above four countries, combined. I mean, during the last 10 years, from Poznan to Vladivostok.

“The citizens are becoming increasingly lazy, less family-centered……creeping agnosticism and atheism”

This is utter nonsense. The problem is wages for the average person. At $7.50 to $12.50 an hour is called WORKING POOR wages – that’s the problem. They can’t survive on such low pay. Even by US standards 102 million people are either on or below the poverty line. Poverty is defined by the US Federal government as a family of 4 earning $25,100 or less annually.
48% of working Americans earn $32,000 per year.
78% of all fulltime working Americans live from pay day to pay day. This is an increase from 75% in 2018.
That is the problem not agnosticism, atheism or laziness.

Now the “Chinese government is tracking their citizens to control them like robots”. Well are you aware of the Patriot Act or any of the other security legislation? They can take you and keep you locked up for ever with no legal redress even though you have done nothing.
Have you ever been to China to see these things?

Probably not just another western ignoramus looking at US TV and believing everything they tell them.

For your information the Chinese invasion has begun. Spain, France, Italy, Germany Belgium etc, etc. They are all tourists and that means they have money to spend.
US tourist is a rare site anywhere. The last time I saw groups of US tourist was in Ireland in 2017. Americans no longer travel because they don’t have the money

"The US has huge social problems,"

Certainly not any more than anywhere else. After all, people are the same all around the world.

"homeless people is on the rise,"

Still a tiny fraction of the population. There are homeless people everywhere in the world.

    "drugs are a huge problem,"

They are. Only in a completely regulated society are they not a problem. But you want freedom, don't you?

"the lack of a national health service,"

Totally unnecessary. No socialism for me, thank you very much. The Serbian health care system is in ruins. That's why I almost always go to a private clinic.

"student debts can be as much as $250k,"

Plain stupidity that so many folks get these useless degrees. In Serbia, education is nearly "free." But the money comes from somewhere else, and the result is that people have few to no government services and everything else connected with the government is in shambles.

"breakdown of moral standards, mass shootings, etc."

There are certainly internal problems in the United States government. That is because of the problems among the people. The citizens are becoming increasingly lazy, less family-centered, and with lower moral characteristics because of creeping agnosticism and atheism. There is no doubt the US is on a downward trend, spiritually and economically.

China has made economic progress. However, the standard of living of the average citizen is nothing compared to US citizens. Not even comparable. Americans have a lot more stuff than Chinese. That's the primary point. And for all the ranting of Peggy and sj and Zhukov, none of them move to China, Russia, or any of these havens of freedom.

The Chinese government is tracking their citizens to control them like robots and corralling hundreds of thousands of Muslims into detention camps that look shockingly similar to Nazi concentration camps. And that is the rise of something good, and not just large?

Not that I would miss it, my yearly consumption of hard liquor is about 100 gram at best. But why is the food so expensive I do not know.

The controls in Ukraine and Russia are very strong. It is quite common in restaurants that the waitress asks who is the driver and he will get the "okroshka" soup based on yoghurt, not on "kvas". Even that "kvas" has only traces of alcohol.

  19. Make Serbia Great....... I think the point others are trying to make is that China is on the rise compared to some western nations. China has made huge progress over the past 40/50 years with much hardship. But there is no denying that they are going forward. Of course they are testing out and reaching out to many parts of the world, and all this without an armed conflict. The Chinese have not fired a shot in anger with any country since the late 1970s. This is very much in contrast to the US who have been at constant war somewhere or other. China is investing all over the place without murdering world leaders.
As for poverty, well of course there is lot of it in China. But the numbers are reducing year on year. In the west its the opposite. Here in London alone, there are close to 200,000 homeless people (living in hostels or on the streets). This is shocking and probably a figure you didnt even know. So lets not be so hard on China and praise America, UK, etc. The tide really is turning.

But try reading something more current since even the west has China as No.2 and Japan No.3. It will be the year 5400 before the US admits it’s no longer the No1 economy, but China has surpassed it as of middle of September 2014.
As far as people wanting to migrate to the US, they are captives of Hollywood propaganda since the 1930s, but today try and get a good paying job there.
Those monthly jobs they trumpet about, well the vast majority are mostly low paid work on $7.50 to $12.50 an hour and this has been the case since 2008.

They can certainly spare a few people leaving the country but never forget, it's the country which is strong and the poor just isn't relevant in that.
Every country has it's poor and homeless and there is no shortage of that in the US.
