Three brothers were civilians and by mistake they veered off in Serbian land across Kosova border! They were arrested by Serbian authorities, taken to Belgrade prison and were released but they were arrested again in middle of Serbia, not to be seen again . alive!

This is the closest, but still not correct.
- They joined KLA in their mind. They did not fight because of clumsiness and incompetence.
- But they helped a Serbian Gypsy to cross the front (instead of fighting)
- They were arrested in Central Serbia, tried and received a rather mild sentence because they helped a Serb instead of fighting. As far as I recall, the Serb (Gypsy) testified in court for them and judge did take that in account. It was not in Belgrade.
- While they were released, paramilitaries kidnapped and killed them.
So the set of problems:
- paramilitary is not a judge
- no one should be tried for the same crime more than once
- they already served the sentence
- the second "sentence" wasn't even formal and by all means it is unusual and inhuman.
- who did it, probably guilty of other crimes, too and should be questioned.
So USA is 100% right on that.

This case is like if a shoplifter gets $1000 fine from the judge for stealing something from a store.
While pays the fine to the cashier of the courthouse, a relative of the shop owner breaks into the courthouse and kills the shoplifter as an act of revenge.

When they were found they did not wear "civilian clothing" but kla uniforms.

Well, if they are citizens of USA. What are they doing fighting the Yugoslav army back in 98 or 99? They did not come to Yugoslavia as part of kfor or w.e They came to kill Yugoslavian people and in turn got killed. Live by the sword die by the sword. Usa should have had them charged as criminals or terrorists. But hey then can adopt anything they want. How well has that worked out for them so far?
