But Russia has a unique feature and thats not the military power. Russia's destiny resembles that of a human being destiny and personal growth. It goes through thousands of difficulties but it always manages to become a mature and modern country. Thats the rule of history, applies to any human being. We have adolescence and stupid mistakes we all make. Then there arrives the time to become mature and to act in responsible way. It applies to Russia only... Russia is not a disruptive force. Russia has only and always tried to defend itself.

It is quite funny to read this as a few days ago there was an article saying the complete opposite, they were saying how NATO has to thank Putin for his unachievable dreams to tease unrest in the world that in return has resulted in much stronger technology and military in NATO.

The Rand Corporation warned the west 3 years ago that NATO had lost its advantage over Russia. The Corporation’s computer modelling had shown that Russian forces could completely overrun NATO in the Baltics in less than 5 days – that was then and I guess it’s much worse now.
On paper NATO looks invincible, but in reality, it is completely different.
Thomas-Durell Young who teaches at Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, wrote a Pentagon paper recently.
He talks about the navies of Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania and Montenegro. He calls the situation both serious and desperate since they all suffer from having old ships which are barely sea worthy.
Young said it was difficult to increase spending on their militaries as these countries in question were all poor.
In the UK, Former Royal Navy Rear Admiral Dr Chris Parry said the British military had fallen a long way behind Russia's capabilities. He said in qualitative terms “we would fare very badly, whether it was the Army, Navy or Air Force against current Russian capabilities”.
The naval fleet is very old and some ships spend more time in the dockyards being repaired than at sea.
30 years ago the US would have given away equipment, today there is no money left to do that. I hear NATO does excellent dinners and the wines they serve are really good. Its not how much you spend, but how you spend the money.

So Dunford, there's an advantage that Russia has and will never dissolve. Being a peaceloving country. Cuz only peace can give people opportunity to better themselves, to be better citizens, to do something to help others in tough times. Russia was attacked on all fronts by Nazis and Germany overplayed Russia in terms of military strength. Yet Russia found the force to resist and overcame a powerful enemy. Our time is no different from that. Prepare and fight for peace Dunford, cuz in war Russia wins and comes out stronger. Has been and will always be. And even if Russia decided to loose, we won't let her loose. Cuz we are stakeholders in Russia's historic destiny. We like Russia, have all bet on that individual challenge with life. Instead of doing that, you started new wars everywhere, you destroyed the Middle East, Iraq, Afganistan, Lybia, Syria. You destroyed your European partners, you destroyed the West by flooding it with refugees from eastern europe and middle east. Abe, I dont think you have put much thought into your post.
The Americans have hundreds of bases around the world, God knows how many soldiers, pilots, war ships, etc. This all costs money.
On the other hand Russia is the opposite to America. They dont tend to occupy other nations. Dont spend as much. But they have technology which is better than Americas. Its a bit like N Korea spends a fraction of what the US does. But the Koreans have nuclear lessons, so its more of a level playing field. Now do you get it...???

New strategy Dunford? The new strategy should have been created when the Ussr was dissolved and when you promised Gorbacov that Nato would have never expanded to the borders of Russia. Amjerika might have become heaven on Earth if you only focused on developing your country while Russia for 2 decades was struggling just to survive to the shock therapy. You had no challenges from Russia for 2 decades! You were the winners of the Cold War right? What prevented you from focusing on yourself, your people, your country? Russia became the laughing stock of the planet under Gorbacov and Jelcin right?

Russia is no threat!It's the US who are pushing NATO towards the Russian border! It's the US that has over 800 military base's around the world! It's the US who started wars in Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria! It's the US that's threatening Iran, Venezuela, Russia and China! It's the US that has has killed millions of people all over the world through wars, regime changes and sanctions! The US is the biggest threat to humanity since ww2!
