The local authority in this predominantly Serb-inhabited area said it was against the formation of any kind of state in the territory of Serbia and deployment of a EU mission without agreement by the UN Security Council and Serbia and called on the international community to prevent the adoption of the ethnic Albanian's declaration to unilaterally secede from Serbia.

The deputies from Zvečan adopted conclusions which demand from Serbia's state leadership to act in a united manner, in accordance to the degree of the threat to the integrity of the country and its citizens.

At the same time, the local deputies called on the citizens to be united and to act responsibly in maintaining public peace and order.

The deputies reiterated that they would continue respecting UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and cooperating with KFOR and UNMIK in order to secure peace and the protection of human rights and the interests of all citizens.

"In case the forces in charge of security and preserving peace in Kosovo overstep or change the mandates they have been granted by UN SC Resolution 1244, we will demand protection from the corresponding organs and institutions of the Republic of Serbia," one of the conclusions said.
