The founder of the WikiLeaks website is wanted there after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Outside the hearing Assange said: ‘We see the unlimited budgets of Sweden and the UK being spent on this matter, and my rather limited budget being spent in response.’
The court heard a former Swedish prosecutor attack his country’s handling of the extradition proceedings.
Assange’s lawyer threw down the gauntlet directly to the Swedish Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mark Stephens said: ‘I challenge you Marianne Ny. Come to London, come on Friday, subject yourself to the cross examination.’
The 39-year-old Australian has infuriated Washington by releasing thousands of secret U.S. diplomatic cables on his website.
Assange’s lawyers claim he will not get a fair trial in Sweden.
