BELGRADE -- President Boris Tadić met in Belgrade on Thursday with the new leader of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), Patriarch Irinej.

The president and the patriarch discussed the position of the SPC clergy and monastic community in Kosovo and Metohija, and protection of cultural heritage.

They also agreed that it was necessary to speed up the finishing works on St. Sava’s temple in Belgrade, and considered issues related to the marking of the 1,700th anniversary of the Edict of Milan, scheduled to take place in Niš in 2013.
