Cynics might say that gas would sooner flow from Serbia to Russia, than would Economy Minister and G17 Plus leader Mlađan Dinkić sit at the same table with the Russians, the newspaper writes.
The situation got even more tense during the recent visit by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Belgrade, which Dinkić "observed from an appropriate distance".
Although his cabinet has been assuring that Dinkić's trip was scheduled "a long time ago", speculation is rife that the minister in fact wished to avoid meeting with the Russian president.
This all the more so since the G17 Plus leader publicly spoke against Serbia's energy agreement with Russia, while the Russians allegedly never forgot that.
The daily reminds that although Serbia's cartoonists portray Deputy PM Jovan Krkobabić as the official that the Belgrade negotiators keep well hidden during their talks with the IMF – as he won't accept pensions cuts – in reality, it is the central bank, NBS, Governor Radovan Jelašić who has been "making himself scarce".
During the last visit of an IMF delegation, Jelašić said the government had "no strategy" for the talks – and left for Chicago, on a vacation.
But the governor also denied that he was afraid to take criticism from the IMF, and said instead that his presence at the meetings was not necessary since they did not concern the exchange rate and hard currency reserves, "which is his department".
The reality is that you have no home at your own(neither "takony" or stone/brick castle). I would not breg about if I would be you.

Joe, as so often you found "szarva közt tögyét a tehénnek".
I have one with ovr 200 sq meters and made of stone + mortgage-free in the hills of Buda/Budim.
Good enough for me. And zero mortgage is a good benefit.

Unfortunately, you are looking at this from an extreme consumerist level and I was not referring to the ordinary US individual, but since you raised it, you are correct that mortgages do cost less for now. However, the problem starts a little further down the track.
As far as your statement is concerned “If they would start substantially I would just pay back some of my mortgages.” That would depend on whether you still have a job. There is a lot of concern, and I mean concern, in the financial world for the situation in the US and it gives even further weight to the argument that the US dollar is not a viable world currency.
There are a lot of surprises waiting the US citizens. Let me just say that major changes will hit the US in Obama’s second term of office or who ever wins, but if the situation is even worse then changes will start in the first term. Borrowing on an unsustainable level lasts a limited period of time before serious problems occur. Your government has again asked for more money from the Chinese, but that comes with guarantees such as security against the falling dollar etc. and the question is what guarantees have they given them. They already own 1/3 of the US.
I can tell you that if (I say if because no one can tell for sure with economics) the current concerns come to fruition you will be lucky to have a house. You really have no idea about the real situation. I will give you a clue, even Australia is in the process of dumping the US and has already tied its currency to the Chinese Yuan.

Me and millions of Americans save thousands of dollars by paying real estate mortgages with extremely low interest rates. Seeing the lower mortgage bills we can all sing "God bless America". And yes this low rates will remain for a while. If they would start substantially I would just pay back some of my mortgages.
(Joe, 25 October 2009 17:00)
I sing "God bless me and my family/friends".
Probably because I am the declared Ashkenazi-Russian-Mongol-American (and newly Georgian) enemy of all of you.
And I have no mortgage to pay, only about $23K for car loans, indeed, thankfully, low. I never dared to take any mortgage because these homes in America look like made of "takony". Yuck.
(Ataman, 25 October 2009 21:23)
You are full of wishful thinking. Do you know how many of your countrymen predicted - wishfully - that Kosovo will be dumped for economic reasons? Yes, my country is printing now an awful lot of money. Maybe too much. Printing 1-2 billion more to help Kosovo is just a drop in the bucket.
As for low interest rates that is currently a blessing. Me and millions of Americans save thousands of dollars by paying real estate mortgages with extremely low interest rates. Seeing the lower mortgage bills we can all sing "God bless America". And yes this low rates will remain for a while. If they would start substantially I would just pay back some of my mortgages.

‘Cynics might say that gas would sooner flow from Serbia to Russia, than would Economy Minister and G17 Plus leader Mlađan Dinkić sit at the same table with the Russians, the newspaper writes.’
As Dinkic is a fully paid official of the EU/US how would that look to his old masters. You have to remember that the current government was INSTALLED by the west to meet its aspirations for the Balkans. While the west was wallowing in its victory, once again they took their eyes off the ball, just the way the US did with Russia and China, then the economic crises hit causing the geopolitical situation to change, but in their favour.
My advice to Dinkic, re-train as a waiter because his old masters are broke and Medvedev likes a nice clean table, good service and he might even tip. If your thinking this is just talk, the latest economic update for the US is interest rate to remain zero for 2010. This is the worst news ever on several fronts, such as no economic growth and servicing of debt issues. The report actual stated the US, in plain English, is in a very bad situation.
Then, of course, Dinkic might be on social security payments very soon.
‘Russia is your key ally but countries don't have FRIENDS, countries have INTERESTS (esp loan interests). LOL.’
Wait till the US dumps you which I expect will happen very soon, say about April/March 2010. Then Kosovari you can tell me how much the US loves the Albos.
(sj, 25 October 2009 04:59)
-- So do you feel that way about the United States, or do you think we honestly love you guys? "LOL"
(Mike, 24 October 2009 22:02)
America has an interest in Kosova. Besides the obvious ginormous Camp Bondsteel, America prevent Serbia from controlling known as 6th richest mines of Trepca.
But...
unlike Serbia, we gained our goal of independence that have been aspiring with the people prior to the Ottoman invasion.
Can you put a value on life? What about liberty? Kosova loves America.
You again fall into your old habit of trying to speak in the name of all of "us", in the name of the whole US.
Maybe you feel that your opinion is very important and decisive in our discussions. Maybe so but please don't speak in the name of all of us. Leave it to Obama.

If you Serbs love Russia (your motherland) so much why don't you set up duel-citizenship with Russia and get ID cards and passports of Russia?
This marriage with Russia is sickening...just wait until the honeymoon is over and you will realize that Serbia and it's people have been duped. Russia is your key ally but countries don't have FRIENDS, countries have INTERESTS (esp loan interests). LOL.

Dinkic will never be replaced. No, hecan meddle in relations with Russia all he wants, meddle in non-western investments, discourage diaspora investments, make ridicolous promises (he's made the most since 2000). EU/IMF/WB pressures keep him in the post, while know the government is capable of calling his bluffs and overriding him (energy agreement, deals with China prime exmaples).
Jelasic is away because the government does want to face painful truths he's warned them off months earlier.
(Yaroslav, 24 October 2009 17:09)
If Dinkic, with his political "ideas", endangers our fundamental contact with Russians he should be very clearly asked to leave his post and he will be consequently leaving the Government position very much for good!
