“What I should say is that the president and other state officials are safe, and I’m sure that neither their nor citizens’ safety is under threat,” assured the minister.
He stressed that security in the country was not jeopardized by the protests by far-right groups over Karadžić’s arrest, adding that the government was stable and that there was no crisis in the ruling coalition.
Šutanovac said that the arrest had been used as a pretext to take the fight outside parliament, adding that it was patently obvious that the Serb Radical Party (SRS) wanted to lead the opposition.
Asked who had arrested the former Bosnian Serb leader, the minister replied that all that mattered was that it had been conducted in accordance with the law.
He added that he was not aware of the state possessing documents concerning the rumored agreement between Karadžic and U.S. diplomat Richard Holbrooke.
“If there are any indications that that document exists, we’ll look for it and submit it,” said Šutanovac.
