The Special Department with the Belgrade District Court issued an arrest warrant against the pair earlier.
"Considering that the residence of the persons wanted is known, the minister has made a decision to request their extradition," the statement from the ministry read today.
Several investigations against them are ongoing, including in connection to the so-called Tobacco Mafia.
Earlier this year, Russian officials confirmed that Milošević and Marković were granted political asylum by the Russian Federation.
The media in Serbia, however, reported that this was known to the authorities in Belgrade "for the past two years".
sorry, ataman, i cannot read russki (very well) but i must say this is an interesting development, or would be if anyone followed thru on it.

Drug, quite the opposite, this is the second time in a week that Russia has let its relations worsen with Serbia.
That programme you were talking about was on state television. We know how state television is run, and who runs it. And its presenter applauded cold blooded murder of a democratically elected Prime Minister.
Yes, where is the sense in it? Why does Russia, as a 'friend' of Serbia insult Serbia in this way?
If the Russians respect Slobo more than they respect Serbs, they can take their communistic 'brotherhood' and shove it where the sun dont shine.
Split in unity? You mean that some think its ok to condone murder of ones own, on account that he led a party they didnt like? Oh yeah I would love unity in Serbia on congratulating the murder of political figures we elect.
Michael Thomas who says the Milosevic's wont receive a fair trial. Didnt you support the trial of accused Serb war criminals in Serbia, not the Hague. Why then can Serbian courts try their own suspected war criminals but not the Milosevic's?
You are insulting the Serbian judiciary.

I just wanted to add one more thing that Russia does not trust Serbia to judge Milosevic family so Russia gives political asylum to Milosevic family so how can Russia trust Serbia to keep 2 million albanians?

The timing is of course unfortunate but this is a problem which has to be addressed to show the world, criminals can't hide behind Russian citizenship. The timeframe is pretty narrow at this point. As I expected, the request was immediately rejected:
Now - who can read - this is a neat scoop of stories about Milošević private life and such. The source provides few curious details, not sure how authentic they are:
What I'd like to see is on what basis the Milosevic's were granted political asylum.
Are they suggesting that Serbia's elected government is some kind of dictatorship that politically persecutes its citizens?
With Vojislav Kostunica as Prime Minister surely its ridiculous to suggest that the Milosevic's would be politically persecuted or not face a fair trial.

Wow, Tobacco Mafia. The most dangerous of them all. Sex slaves, heroin and guns are fine, but if you're in connection with Tobacco Mafia...god help us all.

Russia should not extradite Mrs Milosevic and her son to Serbia. If for no other reason than they will not get a fair trial in Serbia.
Those now seeking their extradition are the same people who kidnapped and “extradited” the late President Milosevic to his Show Trial at The Hague. This earlier “extradition” was in clear violation of Serbia’s constitution and contrary to the advise of Serbia’s Supreme Court.
The Democratic Party are using this to cause a rift between Serbia and Russia and to divert attention from their outrageous pro-EU position.

Serbia and Russia in public claim that they have the best relationship, but at the same time Russia is holding Milosevic family in Russia due to the persecution from Serbian government.
Basically Milosevic family asked for asylum in Russia while escaping from Serbia.

This is the second time during one week that Serbia is making open steps capable to worsen it's relations with Russia. At least it is stupid ! First there was a protest against a routine VESTI news program to consider late DINDIC not to be a hero. Now there's a fake attempt to receive the Milisevic's family.
What is the sense of it ? Don't they know that Russia will not give them up or are they lacking international enemies ?
Maybe they couldn't have done it through diplomatic channels ? Or maybe they don't care of the Russian public opinion which will take such an act as the second betrayal of Slobo whom the Russians respect much more that the Serbs. Anyway it's a very wrong time for encouraging our enemies with a hope to split our unity.
