Zemun: The Town Within the City

Zemun, swallowed up by an expanding Belgrade during the 1970s, is now more of a suburb of Belgrade than a separate town, but one with an individual character that make it well worth visiting.

  1. When in Belgrade, I like to take a walk on Sava (both banks), visit the Museum of Modern Art (not minding that I've seen the works many many times), then walk cross the park and to Zemun by bus.
A bowl of fish soup, more walking, a coffee or two anywhere in Zemun, riverside or downtown. Before returning to Belgrade I still strengthen myself with a pancake at Pinokio, where they certainly know their field of business.
