"Russian media mostly ignore Croatian president's visit"
Unlike the Croatian media, who have presented Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic's visit to Russia as a big event, the Russian media "barely reported about it."

The daily Kommersant announced Grabar-Kitarovic's visit, stressing that it was being prepared for a long time by the Croatian side.
The article pointed out that relations between Croatia and Russia "have been on ice since 2009 when Croatia joined NATO" - and mentioned that in the past two years, Croatia did not have an ambassador in Moscow.
The report further stated that the visit aims to "produce an inventory of sorts of bilateral relations and identify possible areas of future cooperation."
The newspaper also noted that both the minister of foreign affairs and the minister of economy are missing from the Croatian delegation, although a Russian-Croatian business forum would be held in Moscow.
TASS published a brief interview with Grabar-Kitarovic, "in which the president was serious when she said she was convinced Croatia could become an intermediary between Russia and NATO - and that the deterioration of these relations means instability in Europe," writes Index.
@Skenderbeau- fair! I sincerely hope Hrvatska can playa role that helps initiate peace. I think it would help them get over their Srb" phobia and into the international arena as a serious player!
Thanks for listening

@ Watcher Croatia has been active recently on the Ukraine issue trying to be a mediator between Moscow and Kiev. I think Putin has silently said to Ms. Grabar-Kitarovic to enter from Kremlin's main door if Croatia needs an affirmation of its role on the international scene, instead of jumping from the window into Putin's office. Its not about using or being used and you know as I know that all politicians know they all a little bit putin and a little bit takein. Dont forget that Ukraine is half catolic so Croatia can be a great mediator between the official Kiev and Moscow. Moscow on the other hand can be a great mediator between serbia and croatia. So it is a win-win situation and is not against serbia at least this is my opinion. Croatia for thousands reasons is not Estonia or Lithuania and Croatia not even in its worst days has ever been part of the EU's anti-russian propaganda. Croatia a Nato member looks today more independent than the "neutral" and "independent" Serbia. But maybe I'm wrong..

@ skenderbeau 1444 - Why would Putin use Zagreb? Zagreb is a very loyal NATO ally and deep in bed with them....I would think BG would be more aligned to provide a "neutral" atmosphere...I doubt the ruskies confidence in Zagreb is very high...although, I believe NATO would not have very high confidence in BG either....my opinion!

"Russian media mostly ignore Croatian president's visit"That's because she is totally irrelevant and insignificant! There is nothing to ignore.

Sounds like she's getting advice from Lenard.

Dont think russian media are so much different from our media. The major part of russian media are focused on how to express their american colleagues their deep simpathy and hatred for Putin. Russian media ignored also the last congress of the communist party of china despite china being russia's most reliable ally. I am following the visit of the President of Croatia. She is proving once again to be a very wise woman. Of course Croatia can be a reliable natural interlocutor between Nato and Russia and remember: nobody can claim to have the monopoly of the great powers' "love and dedication". It is true for americans and their so called "lapdogs" in the balkans and IT IS ALSO TRUE FOR RUSSIANS and their christian brothers. Croatia is playing her cards well and Croatia's cards are: Nato member with traditionally good relationship with all the ortodox world and most importantly with Russia.
