Balkan borders are now fixed - "and Kosovo should join UN"
Kosovo Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj says that Kosovo should become a member of the UN at the end of the dialogue with Belgrade.

Hoxhaj also thinks that technical issues should not be discussed anymore, and that the EU-sponsored dialogue should instead be brought to its final phase, where Kosovo would get its place in the UN, along with "mutual recognition of Serbia and Kosovo."
Speaking for the Austrian newspaper, Hoxhaj said that "without all that", the dialogue is "meaningless."
Therefore, it should be limited, both in content and in terms of time, he said.
He remarked that there are "countries in the world that do not recognize others - but they do not block the other's membership in the UN." Kosovo and Serbia are "neighbors, and mutual recognition should, be the goal," Hoxhaj added.
Serbia is refusing to recognize the unilateral declaration of independence made by ethnic Albanians in its southern province in 2008, as it considers the proclamation a violation of its territorial integrity.
According to Hoxhaj, as long as Serbia is not recognizing Kosovo, "the process of reconciliation between the two nations cannot take place."
"President Aleksandar Vucic is ready to act pragmatically. However, I am surprised that Serbian civil society and the Church, which has played a bad role in the Kosovo conflict, are not even ready to be a voice of reason even after 20 years," Hoxhaj said.
Asked if "an agreement could resemble that between the two Germanys," he said that it should not - "because there should not be any kind of a model, since every reality is separate."
As for Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic's ideas about "delimitation" in Kosovo, Hoxhaj said this scenario has "always" been on the table in Serbia - but that "history has shown it to be wrong."
"Borders in the Balkans are fixed and those who propose changes regarding Kosovo, are endangering stability. This would provoke a domino effect, and neither the EU nor the United States would be prepared to accept such solutions," he said.
I suggest to Kosovo dont put any importance in UN membership
Russia will veto it and it matters little in the long run'
but I do think you should continue to lobby for it just for the diplomatic experience
plus it annoys Serbs allot and that makes it all worth it
(Sam, 26 August 2017 01:50)
the reality on the ground is 100 % ready for kosovo to join UN. also is time for serbia to withdraw from hungarian vojvodina and preshevo, bujanovc and medvegja. they should declare independence
(ben, 25 August 2017 22:25)
FYR was the successor of DFY
(iron knee, 24 August 2017 23:30)
The UN disagrees with you which is why the UN told the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (today's Serbia) to apply for membership again (which it did in 2000).
Feel free to sort it out with the UN and let us know if you convince the UN that the UN is wrong and you are right lol
Dear, this is very simple... If anybody has any doubt about when Serbia became a UN member, he or she can simply go to the UN website and check what is the date of Serbia's UN membership.
(icj1, 25 August 2017 20:29)
why do you waste everybody's time by forcing us to show you common facts:
FACT-the-1:The UN officially came into existence on 24 October 1945
FACT-the-2:after ratification of the United Nations Charter by the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (China, France, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States) and a majority of the other signatories
FACT-the-3:A total of 51 original members (or founding members) joined that year
FACT-the-4:in that list of original members is found Democratic Federal Yugoslavia
FACT-the-5: Staff said : "successor of Yug", you took that to mean FYR, not DFY, which predates FYR, FYR was the successor of DFY, which is not the same thing.
FACT-the-6: Democratic Federal Yugoslavia was succeeded by Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia which was succeeded by Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
FACT-the-7: clearly you choose to read what you wish, and not what is written.

Given that this 'foreign minister' is expressing the optimistic wishful thinking that is characteristic for our dear albanian friends, I would recommend them to enjoy their luck for tje moment.
Because one thing you can be sure of is, times are changing. We've seen the dramatic loss of US power and influence in Syria where the planned 'regime change' ( "Assad must go" ) is dead.
The american dream is over. The Balance is shifting, and even faster than many Analysts had expected it.
Now, since it is clear now that the US are slowly but surely losing grip, the question arises what will happen in the wake of this clearly visible shift.
If Turkey is turning towards the East, and even in the middle East more and more capitals are eyeing towards better relations with China and Russia ( not only Iran, but also Iraq and Egypt ), the days of american supremacy in the region and also the mediterranean are counted.
That being said, the implications for the greater albanian cause are disastrous.
Not only will european support fade away with improving relations to Russia ( and China as the silent Power in the hinterland ) but also US american engagement will sooner or later shift towards domestic and regional matters.
And as we have seen in the past with other nations, american lapdogs will become useless and therefore lose support.
To cut it short, Albanians should either prepare to fight a hopeless battle or adjust to the geopolitical changes. It's in their own interest...

The FRY is not the successor of SFRY. Just because the names are similar, it does not make the FRY the successor of the SFRY. In contrast, Serbia did not have to apply to become a UN member in 2006 because Serbia was the successor of FRY so it inherited the FRY seat.

There is by no circumstance in the world that Kosovo will become a UN country with these borders.
1. Sets precedent hence why other EU states don't recognize it.
2. Russia and China will do anything to make sure USA doesn't get its way.
3. This project was a failed distraction of Clintons that the US wished never happen so there is no value in Kosovo.
4. UN charter states the resolution wont recognize Kosovo. You can have every country but 1 in the world recognize but if it doesn't past security council means nothing.

Because world powers are preoccupied with North Korea, Syria, and Afghanistan now and since there is no blood on the streets, we are not important now. Therefore all these local "patriots" are just collecting points for the intended internal use only and to show progress to their mentors from the outside. Other nations and nationalities that post here pretending they are Serbs or Kosovars, bugger off and leave us alone to resolve our issues. This shall be solved in steps, first join NATO together, then slowly reconciliation via bringing war criminals to justice, giving freedom of travel and private enterprise, fight corruption, support education,... Then after this is all done and there is a law in place, reconcile differences with different political figures than Dačić, Tači etc... Stay in piece Brothers and Sisters!

If you want to call this part of Serbia "a failed state", then so be it. However, your worries should be limited as Serbian citizens with legitimate Serbian documents are viewed favourably by the EU and are not discriminated against like the ethnic isolationists in the Pristina ruled ghetto. 100s of thousands of have escaped this ethnic backwater cesspool in KiM and fled to life with sane people in other parts of Serbia and Europe where there is indeed much else.

As a foreign minister, even of a self-proclaimed state which has the status as "disputed territory" according to Wikipedia he should know about the procedures of becoming an UN member state. It has nothing to do with the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, and it's not Serbia who can block an access, but it's the UNSC veto powers. And, be sure, I don't see a reason why Russia should abstain from vetoing Kosovo membership. The only constellation I can imagine is a dirty 'deal' with simultanously accpting the other pseudo-states called South Ossetia and Abchasia as new UN member states, or an even more dirty deal with the west accepting Crimea as part of Russia in exchange.

Mutual recognition? In this context, what the hell does that mean.
This is the problem. The Albanians are either mad or divorced from reality. Someone, somewhere is telling them they can have everything without making compromises. Not many guesses who, is needed.
Someone needs to disabuse them of this notion immediately if they really wish to move on and get much of what they desire, if not all.

The US and EU promised the Albanians something they could never deliver and have created a mess in the region (and continue to do so). As such, Albanians will continue to flood into the EU because they love "their" land so much. LOL!

Stay in piece Brothers and Sisters!

why do you waste everybody's time by forcing us to show you common facts:

Nope. Republic of Kosovo is not a part of gypsy serbia. It has all the right to join Un as the sovereign state it is or serbia can forget eu membership and bye bye. Serbia has no control over Kosovo or its citizens. Serbia is poor and gypsy. A failed state and nothing else.

WOrld leaders visiting BG with investment opportunities...how do you see "failes state" here? No, seriously...you are now starting to border on stupidity...at least you were on ignorant, now you're venturing into "pretty damn Stupid" territory...lol
(Watcher, 23 August 2017 15:20)
My God, Albanians are so deluded. "Kosova"*** will never be a member of the UN. Not because of Serbia but because of Russia. "Kosova"*** has useless sanctions against Russia and would want to join NATO given a chance. That is reason enough to ensure it never ever gets a UN seat regardless of Serbia's position.
The US and EU promised the Albanians something they could never deliver and have created a mess in the region (and continue to do so). As such, Albanians will continue to flood into the EU because they love "their" land so much. LOL!
(Zoran, 23 August 2017 12:42)
If Kosovo is a "serbian" province then why dont you have any form of control over it and its citizens? No power, no authority, no influence. Nothing. You are useless in Republic of Kosovo. I dont see any serbs in Kosovo but on the other hand only albanians...…..
(Victory1999, 24 August 2017 11:32)
Kosovo Foreign Minister?? LOL
Im also a foreign minister, of my toilet lol
The only difference is, i can tell the difference between fantasy & reality.
(So sad, Too bad, 23 August 2017 15:10)
Mutual recognition? In this context, what the hell does that mean.
This is the problem. The Albanians are either mad or divorced from reality. Someone, somewhere is telling them they can have everything without making compromises. Not many guesses who, is needed.
Someone needs to disabuse them of this notion immediately if they really wish to move on and get much of what they desire, if not all.
(Jeff, 23 August 2017 14:44)
[Hoxhaj] remarked that there are "countries in the world that do not recognize others - but they do not block the other's membership in the UN."
Yeah and then there's Palestine, which has more recognitions than Kosovo, is part of UNESCO, has UN Observer status, and has more of a historic right to sovereignty than this freak-show Frankenstein of a statlet carved out by American interests and Albanian terrorism, and is STILL blocked from UN membership by the United States. Why? Because America says so.
Sorry Hoxhaj, , you ain't getting to the end of your rainbow. Especially if you're demanding UN membership while suspending technical talks. You can shout and pout like a spoiled brat, but them's the consequences of unilateral secession :)
(LOL, 23 August 2017 16:27)
There will never be a chair in UN due to the fact that Kosovo is a Serbian province and Serbia, successor of Yug, has been a member since 1945.
(Staff, 23 August 2017 19:45)
That's obviously pure fantasy that only exists in your head. According to the UN, Serbia has been a UN member since 2000.
Yes, Serbia is the successor of the FRY, but the FRY became a UN member on 1 November 2000, not in 1945.
(icj1, 24 August 2017 01:04)
You live in a fantasy icj1 ,whatever your name you are a shamed of .
Yugoslavia was an charter member of the United Nations from its establishment in 1945 as the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia until 1992 during the Yugoslav Wars. It rejoined the UN under the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 2000 as a new member. Its seat was transferred to Serbia in 2006.
(sasa.p from near Jagodina, Serbia, 24 August 2017 11:31)
Dear, you just confirmed what I wrote that Serbia got the seat of the FRY which became a UN member in 2000 lol
The FRY is not the successor of SFRY. Just because the names are similar, it does not make the FRY the successor of the SFRY. That's why the FRY had to apply to become a UN member because the FRY was a new country. In contrast, Serbia did not have to apply to become a UN member in 2006 because Serbia was the successor of FRY so it inherited the FRY seat.
Sure, the FRY tried to claim that it was the successor of the SFRY, but the UN rejected that claim.

U.N recognition will never take place and this is what determines a nation as a Republic.
(Smart Serb, 23 August 2017 23:36)
You are correct that U.N. recognition will never take place because the UN has never recognised any state or government, because it can't.
Also, your logic of "what determines a nation as a Republic" is a bit weird, because according to your logic there does not exist any republic in the entire world since the U.N. has never recognised one!
(icj1, 24 August 2017 01:08)
My dear Serbian and Kosovar brothers, no fighting on these forums please. You reassemble these useless politicians. There is not a good time to resolve this issue now. Why? Because world powers are preoccupied with North Korea, Syria, and Afghanistan now and since there is no blood on the streets, we are not important now. Therefore all these local "patriots" are just collecting points for the intended internal use only and to show progress to their mentors from the outside.
5. Does nothing for Serbia to recognize in current borders. Fuck EU, Serbia could be doing more to join but arent. Playing both sides is the game for now.
The reasons to recognize.
1. The Ottomen coffee boys/nazi lovers who suck anyones d@#K say they want it. Wow. Very strong case lol.
You are going nowhere and you are thrilled to death about it.
What a bunch of rats...

Serbian trains run in KiM. Serbian passports are issued to residents in KiM. Residents in KiM attend Serbian Universities and benefit from the Serbian education system. Yes, there are large swaths of KiM that were violently formed into a depressed, ethnically homogenized, fenced-in ghetto. And yes, the EU doesn't grant visa free access to these self-isolated idiots.
(Amnesty Yugoslavia, 23 August 2017 19:35)
Oddly, the tension between these nations of the former Yugoslavia has created a bond that makes it feel like Yugoslavia again.
(RandySavage, 23 August 2017 16:54)
- Borders are fixed alright, but not 'now'. Kosovo-Metohia was and is a Serbian province and can't posssibly be a UN-member.
(jjvanka, 24 August 2017 01:09)
(Comm. Parrisson, 23 August 2017 19:19)

Russia will veto it and it matters little in the long run'

plus it annoys Serbs allot and that makes it all worth it
