The EU foreign minister invited the Balkan prime ministers to "review the situation in light of the latest events" and to "jointly see how to continue moving forward," her spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic told the press earlier on.
The prime ministers of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, Montenegro Dusko Markovic, Albania Edi Rama, Kosovo Isa Mustafa, Bosnia- Herzegovina Council of Ministers Chairman Denis Zvizdic and Macedonian Prime Minister-designate Zoran Zaev will attend an informal working dinner.
Zaev was given the invitation instead of the provisional prime minister Emil Dimitriev, a statement from Skopje said.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed that he will participate in the conference, RTS reported.
Mogherini will hold a series of bilateral meetings with prime ministers, while the joint working dinner should start at 20:00 hours CET.
Ahead of the meeting, she said that the main topics on the agenda would be cooperation among the countries of the region and their individual cooperation with the EU.
The Western Balkans is a region that is "key for the EU" when it comes to security, prevention of radicalisation, management of refugee flows and management of our borders, Mogherini told reporters.
This will be awkward. Like watching an episode of Survivor. Vucic sent his spies to kill the Montenegrin PM and his thugs to beat the Macedonian elect-PM; I'm sure that will be great for the chemistry across the table.
If the 3rd Balkan war doesn't erupt in this meeting, we might be safe for a while.
Meanwhile, Mustafa lost his vote of confidence and most likely won't be in that position a month from now - he might as well take a load off and go there for the cookies and the lemonade, and enjoy the spectacle.
