Things fall apart, can Europe's Center hold?

And really we live in dark times when 'to talk about trees is almost a crime/because it involves being silent about so many atrocities!' Thus Bertolt Brecht in the 1930s and thus Europe today.

  1. The division is between those who assign more credibility to Main street, than to Wall Street. In other words, between the ordinary person and the financial sector.

  2. Again this writer abuses the word popularist.

Democracy is popularist. It depends on taking the most popular view as the basis of government.

Do I agree with this liberal that we can afford to tolerate more murders by islamisists in order to integrate more people who could be living in their country of origin rather than in Europe?

There is a difference between the IRA bombings and the terrorism we have now. The IRA wanted to release their country from the UK, whereas Islamisists (and lots of relatively peaceful followers of Islam) want their religion to rule in Europe. There is nothing liberal in their views.
