The Croatian non-governmental organization Croatian World Congress filed a criminal complaint against the director Dana Budisavljević, claiming that she showed "a series of untruths and lies" in her film "Diary of Diana Budisavljević".
The director said that she was not familiar with the complaint, nor that she would respond to those claims, because she believes that the Croatian World Congress is being promoted by attacking her.
"We do not know to which body this "criminal charges" of the Croatian World Congress was submitted, nor what it means. We will not react, because we think that it is a matter of promoting that institution," Dana Budisavljevic said.
All this is very clumsily worded, and it is obvious, says the director, that the organization wants to put pressure on teachers so that the film about Diana Budisavljević would not be shown in Croatian schools, Tanjug reports.
"It is an attempt to intimidate, but no one took this "lawsuit "seriously, so the Croatian media have not written about it at all so far," Budisavljevic added.
The director reminds that the film is still shown in schools where teachers decide to show it themselves and no one puts pressure on them.
"It is symptomatic for me that these pressures come from people from the Croatian diaspora, who have not lived in Croatia for years," Dana Budisavljevic added.
In the lawsuit, the Croatian World Congress, which claims to be a member of the United Nations, says "that the film did not say how Diana Budisavljevic saved the children of Kozara."
They even claim that the Ustasha government organized the rescue of the children, and that this was left out in the film.
The director is also accused of "fictional violence by police agents in Diana Budisavljevic's apartment", and the role of the infamous commander of the Ustasha Surveillance Service (UNS), Eugen Kvaternik, is being defended, according to "Novosti".
The feature-length documentary from 2019, which was a great success at festivals and cinemas across the region, and was the absolute winner of the Pula Film Festival, with six awards, is a true story about a citizen of Austrian origin married to a doctor of the Orthodox faith in Zagreb. During World War II, she saved more than 10.000 Serb children from certain death in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) concentration camp.
Not all Croats are fascists? Then why do fascists run Croatia? As a Serb go and try living there and see how well they will treat you. Ask the Bosniaks how they feel about their "allies" the Croats. About 5 years ago the Mayor of Split was interviewed and he said Croatia was going through economic difficulty because of Serbia. Yes its always the Serbs. They have been telling themselves for so long they financially held up Yugoslavia they actually believed it, but why cant they do the same with Croatia? its much smaller.
Now when I say Croats I do not include Dalmatians nor do I include the populace that live in Istra because they are not Croat.

I was not born in Serbia either and in fact my mother is not a Serb and my father is far from being “partisan” or nationalistic. Its all nice to seek to live in peace, but let me tell you why I have reached these conclusions about Croats.
End of WW2 South America was the first destination for Ustashe and second was Australia, Melbourne to be precise. I recall a seeing a sign in front of one of their clubs many years ago which translated “No Dogs or Serbs allowed”.
During tensions in Croatia before the war started, at the King Tomislav club in Edensor Park, Sydney, they had a very large gathering where a roasted pig was beheaded using an axe with the announcement this is what they will do to the Serbs.
As far as Ms Budisavljevic is concerned it would not matter what she had prepared with the only satisfactory out for them would be the complete exoneration of their beloved Ustashe.
If the Ustashe rescued these children then the SS helped Jews escape the gas ovens. The Croats should try that on the Jews and see how far they get.

Croatia is trying to erase history by minimizing the number of deaths of the Genocide committed against the Serbs, Jews and Gypsies during World War 2. Vad Vashem reports that at least 750,000 thousands Serbs perished and that is on the conservative side. Only in Jasenovac, thousands of children were murdered by the Croatian Ustase. The most egregious claim is to equate it to Nedic national salvation front in Serbia. Just mention that the Croatians and Ustase declared war on the United States of America, the Axis of Evil in 1941 along with Bulgaria, Romania, Albania, Hungary and that shuts them up. Serbia and Greece never declared war against the allies and paid a high price for it.

SJ that's a rather crude generalization. Whilst one might be supportive of some of your posts on this forum try not to descend to such a nationalistic level by implying that all Croats are sympathetic to the Ustase ideology.That simply is no more true than saying all Germans are/were Nazis.Serbs like myself who were born in the Diaspora but thankfully raised by non-partisan parents (who would have dearly loved to live in peace with all ethnicities before,during and after WW2 or any war for that matter) would rather remain impartial and objective in these matters as one would hope Ms.Budisavljevic has been.
