Nikolic wants his last trip as president to be to RS - daily

Prime Minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic and President Tomislav Nikolic met on Monday in Belgrade at the seat of the Serbian government.

Tanjug learned from the prime minister's cabinet that the conversation concerned "all important political issues, particularly the situation in the region and the latest threats directed at Serbia by Edi Rama, Hashim Thaci, and Jonuz Musliu."

The two officials spoke for two hours, during which they "assessed also the overall security situation coordinated political steps to be taken in the period to come."

According to Tanjug, Vucic and Nikolic agreed to continue their close cooperation going forward.

RS trip

Reporting after the meeting and citing an anonymous, "well informed" source, the daily Blic said that Aleksandar Vucic and Tomislav Nikolic agreed that the latter's last official trip as president should be to the Serb Republic (RS).

According to the newspaper, Nikolic "expressed his wish to visit together with Vucic."

"The desire is to build a large memorial park in the RS dedicated to Jasenovac victims, and that will be the topic of a meeting Vucic and Nikolic will have with (RS President) Milorad Dodik and RS leadership," the source said.

According to the article, other topics discussed on Monday included security services, and Vucic's successor at the helm of a bureau coordinating their work. This decision "should be made soon," Blic writes.

The daily also said that Vucic and Nikolic agreed that the transfer of presidential duties would happen on May 31, while Vucic's inauguration as the country's new president would happen "between June 15 and 20."
