Serbia, Hungary discuss "fighting irregular migration"

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic on Tuesday received General Prosecutor of Hungary Peter Polt.

The Serbian government announced that they discussed "cooperation between the police and prosecutor's offices of the two countries through the work of the Joint Investigation Teams in the fight against irregular migration and human trafficking."

Stefanovic and Polt "assessed that this kind of cooperation should be extended to the area of the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking."

Stefanovic"emphasized the importance of joint work of the prosecution and security services in Serbia to combat illegal migration and the protection of our borders."

"Greater security of our citizens will be contributed by new laws on foreigners and asylum, which should be adopted," he has been quoted as saying.

The meeting was attended by Public Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac, according to a statement by the Ministry of the Interior (MUP).
