That's according to businessman and Strength of Serbia Movement leader Bogoljub Karic, who currently resides in Moscow.

Karic added that the Russians "still hope that eventually wisdom will prevail" and that Nikolic would support the candidacy of Aleksandar Vucic.

In a statement to Tanjug on Friday, Kraic said officials in Moscow with whom he is in contact "closely monitor the situation in Serbia and are interested in the political situation in our country."

According to him, Vucic "enjoys the trust of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and is seen in the Moscow circles as a man who is committed with his whole being to protecting our country and to its economic recovery."

"There aren't may prime ministers whom Putin receives with the honor guard, which is how presidents are received. This, unfortunately, has never happened to President Nikolic, he has been received in more of a 'semi-official' manner. Nikolic has not had an official reception in these five years," said Karic.

Putin's support to Vucic, according to him, should also be seen in the military assistance of Russia to Serbia, as well as in announcements of business activities "of high value."

"From Moscow comes full support to Aleksandar Vucic as a future candidate for president, and they think that Nikolic will still back Vucic, regardless of all their differences, and that wisdom will eventually prevail in Nikolic," said Karic.
