Serbia has launched the initiative for the International Court of Justice to give its opinion on Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration.

The Kosovo Ministry announced that Goran Bogdanović and Aleksandr Konuzin had agreed that a “tough battle” lay ahead in the UN General Assembly in order for Serbia’s initiative to receive support.

The minister reiterated that Serbia did not recognize Kosovo’s self-proclaimed independence, and that it vehemently opposed all decisions that went counter to UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

He said that the government would oppose the UNMIK-EULEX agreement, as well as all other documents that contravened international law and Resolution 1244.

Konuzin supported Serbia’s position, and reiterated Russia’s determination to oppose all documents justifying Kosovo independence.
