A total of 362 ballot papers have been prepared. The Republic Election Commission (RIK) confirmed the re-vote on February 5 after receiving a complaint that a town resident had voted using an expired identification card.

When a repeat vote is deemed to be necessary, the final elections results are not announced until the new vote is complete and counted, regardless of whether it has an effect on the election's final outcome.

If there are no further problems after today's re-vote, RIK is expected to have the final official results ready by Saturday.

If another complaint is submited, RIK will have a further 48 hours to consider it.

Once RIK confirms the election results, the president will be sworn in by parliament, after which his five year mandate begins.

In the second round run-off, the Democratic Party leader and incumbent president, Boris Tadić, received 50.57 percent of the vote to his opponent Serb Radical Party leader Tomislav Nikolić’s 47.71 percent.
