B92: Mr. Vučić, today (Aug. 28) you had a meeting of the Bureau for Coordination of Security Services. What did you discuss?

Vučić: There are four key topics. One is constant and work on it will increase, and that is to investigate, and finish the investigations into the 24 cases that we spoke about, the corruption and organized crime cases. The second is the report of the organized crime prosecution on the raised indictments, and on what has been done in the past year. What is important to us are high risk gatherings that we may have in the coming period, above all the Serbia-Croatia football game. The fourth is the work of the commission set up to investigate the murders of journalists.

B92: Has there been any progress in these investigations, and when will you be able to inform the public about it?

Vučić: As you know I'm not much of an optimist, but I'm certain we will have concrete results in at least one, and perhaps even two cases, after many years that failed to arrive at truth and justice. I think we will succeed in fulfilling that and it will also be very important for the respect of principles, justice, legality, fairness, and it's also very important for the families of the victims. I think we will finish this job successfully.

B92: How many of the 24 cases of controversial privatizations remain to be finished?

Vučić: What remains to be done are these big cases, from C Market to Port of Belgrade, which we have gone into very much already, to the Veterinary Medicine Institute and many other cases. All these cases are being processed. There is not a single case any longer, not Nacionalna Štedionica, in other words, there is no case left that is intact. I expect that by the end of the year all investigations will be finished and that prosecutors will either accept or reject such results. Whether they issue indictments or say no crime had been committed, in other words, at least that the state considers that no criminal act was perpetrated. That's what I expect by the end of the year and we will achieve these results.

B92: These days the summary of the work of the government is being made. The opposition claims that, at least as far as your scope of activity is concerned, the weakest spot is the fight against organized crime, and that the least has been done there?

Vučić: I was shocked by such accusations, and you saw that I immediately not only denied and negated, but also, I would say, managed to make them feel ashamed for such untruths, at least for a second. I wish to submit my report to the citizens of Serbia - in the past period, the highest number of indictments for organized crime has been raised. Directly, there have been 117 indictments in criminal proceedings launched after August 1, 2012, 113 of those confirmed, while main hearings are already underway for nine persons, and there has been one final verdict, which means that things are moving forward very efficiently also in the judiciary sector. In the same period, 63 more indictments were raised based on previously launched investigations, which means that there has been a total of 180 organized crime indictments. Sometimes lawyers are jokingly saying that they cannot keep up with everything coming from the prosecution, and I'll be frank, we have a shortage of prosecutors for a job this hard and difficult.

B92: You have said it yourself that the only deadline you missed was the one related to the arrest of Darko Šarić.

Vučić: We are working on bringingDarko Šarić to justice in cooperation with the world's most powerful services. We are maximally dedicated and engaged in bringing him to justice, and we will do that job. I was inexperienced when I said that something would happen by the end of JUne. I will no longer be setting deadlines, but the citizens of Serbia should know that we will finish this job. I do not wish to reveal its phase, and if I said that there are teams cooperating with the most powerful teams from around the world then that is a firm guarantee that we will do this job, which is not easy, in the coming period, which will not be a long way away.

B92: Is there anyone close to the government who is in any way obstructing the arrest of Darko Šarić?

Vučić: The only thing I can say is that the people and organs who are working on it - I cannot say who they are because that is official secret - that they are completely dedicated and that nobody can hinder them. Nobody must hinder them, and there will be results! What somebody may wish for, and who they are, I will not go into that kind of thing, I am interested in the results. And the fact we are trying will not be important to the citizens of Serbia unless there are results.

B92: Who will be the new chief of the BIA?

Vučić: That decision will be made in the coming days.
