PRIŠTINA -- An international conference entitled "Kosovo and the Arab world" opened in Priština on Monday.

Participants in the conference are scientists, publicists, reporters and representatives of the civilian sector who have influence with Arab countries, as well as the highest representatives of political and public life in Kosovo.
Intellectuals who are taking part in the work of the conference have said that there are dilemmas in the Arab world regarding the independence of Kosovo, and that this is the reason why there is hesitation to recognize it, local media have reported.
"Arabs will recognize very soon"
Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu said Monday that the Arab countries "will recognize the independence of Kosovo very soon" and that prejudices that the issue of Kosovo can be treated as a precedent for other conflicts worldwide, will be removed.
Speaking at the start of the conference today, Sejdiu said that it aims "to influence the Arab countries to recognize Kosovo".
"Kosovo has expected and expects the Arab countries to speedily recognize the reality in Kosovo and to join the other countries that have done so," he stated.
Sejdiu set out that the Kosovo institutions guarantee that democratic values will be applied to all citizens regardless of their nationality, religion or race.

given that they are so eager to destroy all signs of christian serbian heritage in the southern serbian province, there would not be many churches left in the land where "our" Albanians come from.
the best joke is that they are lying about byzantine-style-built churches being "albanian-catholic" and "stolen" by the Serbs, but then, if you ask them why they are burning them down, if they are "their" heritage... they simply stay quiet.

Based on what you assume all Albanians are Arab "brothers"?
According to the latest reports in Albania there are 638 mosques and 1119 churches. From 1119 churches, 425 belong to the Albanian Christian Ortodox Church, 694 belong to the Catholic Church.
How can you explain that in a "muslim" country there 2 times more churches than mosques?

I have never heard of a religion called Albanianism. You seem to invent everything. First a country called Kosova and now a religion called Albanianism.
As for the number of churches and mosques in Albania, please direct me to your source. I find thing too fantastic to believe.
How on earth can there be more churches than mosques in a country which is predominately Muslim?
There simply sin't enough Christians in that country to support all those churches.

I am Albanian myself and I don't see why Kosova is even considering to count on Arab support. Albanians don't need these arabs for anything. Christian nations will recognize with time, and Kosova already was recognized by natios with whom they conduct 99% of trade and people movement. Kosovars need to focus on working with EU to create a society able to attract foreign investments and attain a westener work disipline and work culture as well as increase education levels among its youth.
Forget about arabs and islam. Nothing good comes from them. 500 years proved that with great accuracy.

That is probably the reason why most Arab states will NOT recognize Kosovo. They try to stay as far away as possible from new fangled ideas likes democracy, equality among men and women, or freedom of religion.

Kosova's issue has never been a religious issues as Serbs have tried really hard in the last century to represent. They will not endorse a society that shows the hard liners in there country that they support reforms for Women's Rights and against all things the Koran says not to do.
