Vice President of the Assembly of Communities of Municipalities of Kosovo and Metohija Marko Jakšić said in Kosovska Mitrovica on Friday that citizens' protests would be organized in the event of the return of customs officials to northern Kosovo along the administrative line with Serbia.
"We have been promised by opposition leaders in Serbia that large rallies will be organized at both crossings in the event of the return of customs to the Brnjak and Jarinje crossings. We expect 50,000-100,000 people who will remain there for days," Jakšić said.
Both posts were attacked and set on fire by local Serbs in February, after they learned that ethnic Albanian customs officials were sent there.
President the Serb National Council of Northern Kosovo Milan Ivanović addressed the same press conference to say that he expects the support not only of representatives of opposition parties, but also of those Serbs who have been driven out of Kosovo, "should the need for rallies arise".
The Municipality of Zubin Potok is the organizer of the rally scheduled for Monday.
The Kosovo Police Service (KPS) has begun the installing of police cameras at the administrative crossing of Brnjak near Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo.
Cameras will also be placed at the administrative crossing Jarinje near Leposavić, a KPS spokesperson announced.
Also yesterday, Jakšić and Ivanović urged Kosovo Serbs to leave their jobs in Kosovo institutions.
Jakšić said that he expected Belgrade authorities to also call on the Serbs to abandon their offices.
"Serbia must pay the salaries of Serb officers in the Kosovo Police Service and employees in the judiciary and other Kosovo institutions," he said.
I guess you weren't around during 1997-1999??? 800.000 kicked out of their homes, thousands killed, thousands raped, etc, etc, etc.
(Freeman,
Well Freeman, I must disappoint you but I was actually very much in Pristina at that time. Your exaggerated tales about 800.000 kicked, murdered and raped Albanians do not deserve comment.
However, one thing to make it clear here-Milosevic did not force you to integrate into society when you decided to boycott it. As long Albanians used peaceful means Milosevic did not use any force to change that. But, when KLA terrorist started the war against our police forces and brutal kidnapping of civilians the war on KLA was normal respond by Serbia.
You seem to have problem to distinguish peaceful means with aggressive one.

Blah, blah, blah. Is there anything else that you can up with besides that same old line that has since long being discredited.
Meanwhile 100,000 + Albanians live and work in & around Belgrade.

"Do you suggest exercise of force against the Serbs in Kosovo? Don’t forget that even Slobodan Milosevic never used any form of force against Albanians in order to integrate them into Serbian society."
such a nice guy this Milosevic. Should we try to do the same to Serbs as Milosevic did to the Albanians then? I thought so.

Do you suggest exercise of force against the Serbs in Kosovo? Don’t forget that even Slobodan Milosevic never used any form of force against Albanians in order to integrate them into Serbian society. Everyone who felt of doing right thing by boycotting Serbian state had and still has all the rights of doing so without fearing that some form of force will be applied against them.
Albanians just have to realise that Serbs living in Kosovo say NO to the Albanians and have all the rights ignoring Thachi et al. That is the reality that should be respected.

We all know who is behind the "stage of warning protests". Kosova authorities should speed up the process of exercising its authority all over the Kosova and the manupulated Kosova Serbs can exercise its rights of peaceful demostration prescribed by the Kosova Constitution.

I give them a day.
If it rains couple of hours.
P.S. who is providing yogurts??? ;)
