1. Wait...is VLA serious? I didn't quite catch your humor....I hope you were kidding, because that was really delirious..I mean what freedom says is ridiculous but VLA took the cake with the whole army thing...
    (MP, 24 August 2008 18:02)
  2. Hungarin-Vojvodina must be liberated and her citizens deserve independence, regardless of what Serbia has to say. Greater Serbia is officialy dead, just ask Tadic and company.
    (azir, 24 August 2008 15:23)
  3. Vojvodina must have freedom of choice and self-ruling status. Vojvodina will fight for liberation and will create its own democratic army - Vojvodina Liberation Army, not to fight war but to fight for democracy, freedom and self-determination.
    (VLA, 24 August 2008 04:24)
  4. I absolutely love what Mr.Canak had to say, but he didn't go farther. Mr.Canak is a great voice for Vojvodina and yes we will push for more powers, and for a Vojvodina Constitution and Vojvodina police which is quietly on the table as well.

Vojvodina also has an office in Paris and now we're pushing for one in Brussells and we'll have one there as well, which is very important for us.

Vojvodina will be the Switzerland of Central/East Europe, and will be a truly Multi-Ethnic Indepenent and Free State !!!

Complete Independence and Freedom for Vojvodina is closer than people think.
    (Freedom, 23 August 2008 19:31)

    Dear 'Freedom',

I am convinced that you are nothing but what we would call here in Ireland, a WUM -Wind Up Merchant. There is absolutley no basis to your argument except to antaganise and provoke Serbs and Yugoslavs on this site. Ite quite sad and pathetic really.

Have you ever been to Vojvodina? Chances are no. I have been to Serbia quite often and I can assure you my Albanian friend that 100,000 of your felow kin are quite happy to live and work in Belgrade as are ethnic Hungarians, Slovaks, Bosniaks, Montenegrins, Macedonians, Slovenians, Croats, Jews, Roma, et al. and indeed any 'oppressed minority' that you supposedly speak up for.

A colleague friend of mine is going out with a Slovenian girl and at this moment in time is over in Beograd visiting her parents and grandparents who live there.

Oh the 'poor oppressed minorities'. The crocodile tears that you shed.

  5. I am a lala from Banat. I am most proud of it. However, we do not need to be governed by separatists like Canak and the last thing that the people of Vojovdina need is more government and more taxes.

Serbia needs a stable government that is responsive to all of her peoples and Vojvodina does not need to pay for two governments with competing agendas to divide us from the rest of the country. What the people of Vojvodina want need and deserve is some prosperity to go along with their hard work; this will not happen as long as the politics of division continue.

Further, Canak is out of touch with the interests of our younger generation who look far beyond regionalism.
    (marko, 24 August 2008 02:17)
  6. In addition to my earlier post, there are 120 seats in the Vojvodina legislature. Canak holds 6, Ceda holds 1, and the Hungarian Coalition holds 9. Canak and Ceda are the only pushing Canaks agenda, and they seem to be unable to agree with the Hungarians regarding autonomy because Hungarians seek decentralization of Vojvodina also.

Anyways, the solution for Serbia is the abolishment of Vojvodina and it's autonomy, the decentralization of powers to municipalities, and the regionalization into economic regions of Serbia (3 in Vojvodina, 1 Beograd, 5 in the rest of Serbia).
    (Yaroslav, 23 August 2008 22:55)
  7. Mr. Canak you are a hypocrite. In 2002 when the statute was passed Canak was calling it the greatest thing to have happenned to Vojvodina in the last 10 years.

All those who have posted hear talking of Vojvodina secession and supporting Canak are delusional. Canak's party received 8.25% of the votes in the Vojvodina elections. If not for the fact that there are 8 coalitions in the Vojvodina parliament his party would be 100% irrelevant.
    (Yaroslav, 23 August 2008 22:49)
  8. Unless Serb nationalists wake up, Vojvodina will leave too, just like Crna Gora left. Only 65% are Serb and maybe 15% are tired of sending 40% and getting back only 7% while Serbia spends money on pensions for Serbs in Kosova. Vojvodina is much more European anyway.
    (UCV - Ushtria Clirimtare e Vojvodines ;), 23 August 2008 22:49)
  9. Wow do we have to go over this again...

-I was just in Vojvodina.. no one wants any form of independence

-Canak is just Serbia's northern Ceda Jovanovic (payed by Sorros)

    -65% of Vojvodina are Serbians

-The rest of the minority are split between Hungarians, Croats, Romanians, "Yugoslavs", "Montenegrins" and Slovakians.

-Here is a demographic of how Vojvodina really looks like ethnically

Please refer to the source about the Vojvodina Police and offices in Brussels and PAris, if you can't provide them you are just another TROLL on this site...
    (Srboslav, 23 August 2008 20:18)
  11. Another old guy repeating the same story again -- please, bring on some young people who were never commies in the first place!
What the whole of Serbia needs is good decentralisation where the municipalities will have greater powers. Towns of Vojvodina do not want to be dictated from Novi Sad if Vojvodina just gets more powers (just like nobody in Serbia wants all the powers centralized in BG). Vojvodina autonomy made sense during the Tito era, but not today. Plus, if Vojvodina produces 40% of the country's GDP (largely thanks to Pancevo next to Belgrade), and the Belgrade area itself produces about 45%, then the rest of Serbia (with Nis, Kragujevac, Uzice, etc.) produces only 15%? Nonsense. And, he says Vojvodina gets only 7% back. He does not say, however, that the police, schools, hospitals, borders, etc... are all paid from the Republican accounts... So the solution, to me, is not to create yet another level of government. Have a strong gov't at the republican level and STRONG MUNICIPALITIES!

  12. Ben, UK

I also have a good laugh when Albanians write comments about poor Albanians being always slaughtered and deprived of human rights by the evil Serbs.

It is very symptomatic for Albanians to twist the comments as you twisted mine and put the words I never used for Canak. Canak is far from being a terrorist.
    (bmrusila, 23 August 2008 20:02)
  13. Dream Canak, just dream! In order to pass that silly statute there must be a referendum and it will all depend on the results of referendum. If there was a referendum on constitution then I presume the referendum on Vojvodina statute must be held as well as it concerns the entire Serbian population and not only people in Vojvodina.

A for annulling agreements, the only one that should be annulled as MUST is you Canak. Hope you will soon disappear form Serbia’s political scene.
    (bmrusila, 23 August 2008 17:54)

    was there a referendum when Millosevic annexed/anulled Vojvodina's & Kosova's autonomy?
I know there was a referendum about whether to accept a cease fire/deal with NATO, thus stopping the killing of Albanians, and we all know, you said a big NO( this big NO meant continue killing Albanians) but other than that I can't recall any other referendum.

I also laughed at your comment when you said to Canak please leave Serbia's political scene.
Yeah right, he is another anti Serbian, a terrorist, seperatist and what not.:)

  15. 40% of the GDP comes from Vojvodina and they only get 7% back? Serbs, you better do what they say or else they'll leave too like Montenegro.

  17. The hardest working people in Serbia do deserve to elect a leader that will stand up for them and promote their couse, regardless of ethnicity or political wills from Belgrade direction.
I am sure they have the means of pressure to archive their goals. Enjoy hared working Magyars
