"Heroin is moved through Balkan NATO states, Trump is right"
Trump is right on NATO - the military alliance is obsolete, Adriatic Institute President Natasha Srdoc writes in the Huffington Post.

Looking at the current state of NATO, in the context of US President Donald Trump's controversial statements about the obsolescence of the military alliance, Srdoc writes that "corrupt Eastern European politicians are using NATO accession and membership to buy legitimacy":
"For example, the newest prospective member, Montenegro, is a center for transnational organized crime but has used ill-gotten gains to throw parties for visiting Americans. As World reported, John McCain had a 70th birthday party there; Madonna and Bill Clinton received gargantuan payments for flattering elite Montenegrins with a concert and a speech, respectively; and guests from The Heritage Foundation, the Atlas Network, the Cato Institute, and the Mont Pelerin Society have also been feted in Montenegro."
The author also says that NATO members Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and Croatia lie on the Balkan Route "with unsecured borders, easily crossed by terrorists."
"Corruption is rampant. Organized crime coexists in a symbiotic relationship with political corruption. Reports have shown that radical Islamists are using the Balkan Route for recruiting, getting their weapons supply and funding. More than one million migrants came through the Balkan Route into Europe within the last 18 months, including terrorists," Srdoc writes.
"The Balkan Route’s heroin, arms, human and organ trafficking merges with cocaine trafficking coming from Latin America. Reports indicate that Balkan heroin trafficking brings in more than 28 billion dollars in proceeds annually, financing Al Qaeda, Hezbollah and ISIS. The Balkan Route originates in Afghanistan, where 75 percent of the world opium is produced, and trafficked via Iran, Turkey, and the Balkan NATO countries into Western Europe and beyond," according to the article.
Albanians are always in the news in the UK, the Netherlands and other countries for trafficking huge quantities of drugs.
I haven't read of any Serbs being arrested in their newspapers. Serbs are more local, while Albanians spread their network into dozens of countries. That's probably the real reasons Albanians are the #1 illegal migrants caught coming to the UK in recent years.

"It confirms the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's core task of defending its territory and its commitment to collective defense of its members. In order to protect one's territory one must protect its boundaries."
Indeed. Protecting boundaries against troops and illegal combattants coming from the outside or the neighbor countries. Ukraine is not in the NATO, so it couldn't defend itself against Russian aggression.
P.S: Corrupt Serbia, Bosnia and Kosovo are on the 'Balkan' as well, and they are not NATO member. Kosovo is the main drug hub for Europe and ruled by drug mafia politicians, Serbian narco-mafia with its ties to the ruling political elite and state security service is legend and still alive - remember the party meetings of Dacic celebrating with a mafia boss.

Oh what short memories people have. Montenegro was a significant transit point for cigarettes in to Europe and was under investigation by Italy for years until it was mysteriously dropped. There's two things that we know. No.1 Tobacco companies use gray trade of their own products back in to the EU (at a much cheaper prices) to keep people smoking; No.2 If cigarettes can be smuggled, then almost anything else can be too, from drugs to people. We also know that not so long ago King Djuanovic openly said that there was no prostitution or traffiking in Montenegro. Maybe he left out the words 'without my consent'. Either way, Montenegro remains one of several routes used by criminals at will.

What russian propaganda? How many small jets transporting drugs from albania to italy with italian mafiozi pilots have been discovered? In april 2016 a new helicopter of our army we bought from the french fell on Shkoder lake and two pilots died. What was that helicopter doing in the border with Montenegro? We have a very good investigative jounalist in Albania Artan Hoxha and he said that maybe that helicopter was transporting drugs. Very suspicious case if one considers the panic of our ministry of defence. They declared the two pilots "heroes" when they havent been pulled out the helicopter yet in order to close the mouth to their families. Heroes of what? Did they die in war or did they die because Djukanovic was afraid?

This article is 100 percent correct! Does anyone think Dukanovic would be able to be reelectted 24 times if he wasnt sucking up to America and Nato? Dukanovic probably even faked a majority vote for independence with the blessings of America. You can kill, torture, lie and steal as long as you have the West on your side.

nato's mission statement includes:
"It confirms the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's core task of defending its territory and its commitment to collective defense of its members"
In order to protect one's territory one must protect its boundaries.
NATO is committed to protect territory, as thus it behooves NATO to protect porous borders.
Items are considered legal or illegal for various reasons. Drugs fall into that category.
NATO's roll at borders may not be direct. A NATO soldier won't necessarily be looking at passports -- that is not their role, but as the multinational police force of choice, it is their overall responsibility to be involved and take appropriate actions.
that is how nato and border security are connected.

Oh your just jealous!!!
Who cares, as long as there is a demand there will always be a supply whether it be thru Macedonian, serbiia, Bulgaria, Greece or Albanian, it is going to find a route!

another thing that has become completly obsolete is a once very good english section of a news site, which reported neutral, obejective and opinion-free, but has turned into another huffingtonpost-style trash outlet since the old editorship was ousted.
